I just read this on Twitter. What exactly happened?
They said there will be a presser at 6, not a great record at Indiana, but still it is Indiana. I was always thought he is pretty good coach and finally had a DC worth a darn.I just read this on Twitter. What exactly happened?
What does any of that have to do with pressuring a player with a concussion to play (assuming that was one of the issues)? Nothing excuses that. Old school or not. Back in the day maybe some coaches would do that because they were ignorant of how bad concussions are for the brain. Now we know a lot more of the biology involved here and it ain't pretty. A modern coach should know better.I really think in this day and age coaches, especially old school coaches, are having a harder and harder time trying to tip toe the line of what is expected of them. There is an huge amount of pressure to win, win big, and win now. You have the pressure to deal with an ever changing PC world filled with egos, prima donnas, campus micro-aggressions, money, boosters and administration to name just a few things.
It is pretty easy for us a fans and onlookers to just say it can't be that hard to do things "the right way". But boy it must! Now it this is a case of concussion issues and rushing players back, I get it, but I don't know if that issue comes up if you don't have the amount of pressure you get as a coach. Listen I am not saying coaches are mistreated or have it that hard, because yeah they get paid out of the ass. Going in they probably realize the pressure, but it shouldn't come as a real surprise to anyone when a case like this comes up.
Big mistake, I agree. Which is why the firing must have to do with what is being hinted at. Player treatment issues. I bet Kansas wishes they had not needed to fire their most successful coach in ages (Mangino), but their hand was forced. Probably similar here too. Imagine your tort liability as a University if it came out that you knew about your coach pressuring guys to play with a concussion and then did nothing. If that kid gets another concussion and then develops brain damage that leads to suicide you are in deep financial shitBig mistake if you ask me.... They have become NO easy out with Wilson at the helm...

Just announced Tom Allen as HC. Good offensive mind that gave teams fits at times this year in conference.
Yeah. Makes no sense to me. Indiana's defense has been nothing special.Tom Allen was the defensive coordinator.

Sounds as if the rumors of player abuse are false.Officially a resignation over philosophical differences. No violations occurred.
So by saying that does the school relieve him of any liability for these concussed players that he rushes back to play?
Sounds like he hired a Judas for a DC if you read between the lines.
And their defense this year, though improved, was nothing special. Kind of like our defense. LolThis was his first year there.
Something stinks. Something went down. He just got a 6 year extension, and now he resigns and only takes 500 k as severance instead of being fired and making millions like Bo. Not buying it.Officially a resignation over philosophical differences. No violations occurred.

I did watch their defense. I repeat: nothing special. They did play a great game against Ohio State though.Go back the last 4 seasons and watch Indiana's defense compare to this year....HUGE difference. Allen is/was a top up & coming DC, not sure he is ready to be a HC though.
I know. This whole thing is fishySomething stinks. Something went down. He just got a 6 year extension, and now he resigns and only takes 500 k as severance instead of being fired and making millions like Bo. Not buying it.
Huh?Yeah. Makes no sense to me. Indiana's defense has been nothing special.
I didn't stutterHuh?
He started turning around a horrid defense, with less than stellar athletes. I will give him a little credit for that at least.I didn't stutter
I guess you think Indiana's defense was "special".
I mean "special" as in the defense was soooo good this guy deserves to be head coach

I said "his defense was nothing special". So you seem to disagree with that. So I guess you think his defense was "special", as in exemplary.2007-2015, the Hoosiers scoring defense ranked anywhere from 90-112. In 2016, they are #58.
2009-2015, in conference their scoring defense gave up between 32-38 points per game every year. In 2016, it's 27.3 in conference. It's also the first time they weren't the bottom two scoring defense in conference.
Yes I do give him credit for that. I think he is a good coach. But as I said above, so good that you would fire your head coach for this guy? That is my question. He started turning around a horrid defense, with less than stellar athletes. I will give him a little credit for that at least.

Meh. I really don't care. It is pretty transparent that they had the goods on him to make it bad. Nobody throws that kind of buyout money away.Yes I do give him credit for that. I think he is a good coach. But as I said above, so good that you would fire your head coach for this guy? That is my question.
