I was reading the Journalstar today and the sports section had the super state baseball selections. I couldn't help, but notice that the best in state players are leaving the state (Arkansas and Texas A&M) and one going to Creighton. These are good players. Drew Smith, Logan Foster, and Cole Srobbe, are excellent prospects. All three are capable of hitting for average and power. All three have batting averages hovering in the .450 area. Erstad on the other hand snags a utility player that hit .333, who neither hits for power (only 5 doubles and no homeruns) or average. This player also pitches, but has a 2.12 ERA, which is very good, but not great in high school. A second Erstad recruit is a pitcher on academic scholarship. I truly have no idea how Erstad evaluates the players that he recruits.
