Too many meaningless bowls. You win half your games and your coaching staff gets a bonus??? Not in my business world, you better be in the top 25% at least. Bowls need to be a minimum 7 win teams. Stands are empty at these meaningless games. If it is a good game, the fans are in the end zone or upper deck.

Let all teams practice from season end to Christmas break. The good teams get 15 more practices, is that fair?

Tell that to all of the .300 hitters in the MLB.

The thing about these types of sports is there is an opponent attempting to prevent your success. In school, instructors generally are trying to foster success.

But I agree with your sentiment there are too many bowl games.

EDIT: To answer your question, I had an Engineering Dynamics class where the professor made the exams so difficult that a 50 was a decent grade.

Too many teams in March Madness too?
They need to cut the number of regular season games and vote for just a few teams to play over the course of one weekend. They miss too much school under the current arrangement. Winking

EDIT: Now that I look at it, Division 1 basketball actually plays fewer regular season games (31 games maximum [29 single games, or 27 single games plus up to 4 in-season tournament games], 347 teams, 8.9%) relative to the number of teams compared to FBS (12 games maximum, 130 teams, 9.2%). Plus with the exception of Liberty and New Mexico State this year, football doesn't have regular season rematches (home/away) like basketball has. So that means in basketball, the number of unique regular season opponents relative to the total number of teams is actually lower than 8.9%.

It's a good thing they have a much larger postseason field to determine a champion.

Who cares? Bowl games used to be a vacation for teams that had a decent season. It was a way for sunny vacation destinations to pick up some tourism during a slow period around the holidays. The games originally didn't even count in the final school rankings.

Once the four playoff teams are selected, I really don't care who makes a bowl game. To me, it's just more football to watch before the long, horrible off-season begins. No more football for eight months. So I'll take what bowl games are offered. You can always turn the channel if you don't like what's offered.

I had dynamics around 1980 and it was like that, 50 was good. I can't remember the profs name. Decent guy, but once every couple weeks flew off the handle (damit, you guys settle down, I'm sick. I feel like I have a hangover, but without the fun!). If you had the class way back then, do you remember the guy's name?

I'd have to do some digging. I took dynamics in about 2006 or 2007 and my professor was probably in his late 50s to early 60s. So if he was in his 30s when you took dynamics, it may have been the same guy.

Why do we care how many Bowl Games there are? They will cease to exist when they lose enough money. For me, it’s a chance to watch another game and it’s a trip for players and some fans.

Nah, he was an "old guy" when I took the class, probably in his late 50s. So not the same guy. But then, I can't pinpoint his exact age because when you are 20, everyone over 35 looks like an "old guy.":)

Not a fan of that many bowl games, I remember some pretty good Nebraska teams going to some crappy bowl game and they would be 9-3 10-2, heck a 6-6 team today get just as good as a team from the 70's or 80's that went 9-3. Just don't think the players need to strive for anything anymore, wasn't that long ago it was orange bowl or bust for Nebraska, Colorado, Oklahoma, kst, even Missouri and ku. Really no different the Nebraska high schools rewarding football teams with a losing record a spot in the playoffs

Clearly you didn't go to UNL.
Was a joke, comparing number of football games in a year.
Abel 2 "the Zoo"/ coed floor & Sigma Nu (same as Frank Solich). I got cut from class PE109Q, Varsity Football, along with 137 others. I still remember joking about how Nebraska just cut the 3rd best team in the Big 8. ; )
