then bring back Jeff Jamrog. During the Solich years and the last year of Pelini the Huskers had some great special teams play. Especially kickoff and punt returns. I believe Jamrog was the special teams coordinator. Yeah, Jamrog works for me plus he's a former Husker.

Are you trying to get rid of him?:D

And the Broncos, do they win tonight against K.C.? Hope so.

I will quit following this program if Jamrog is hired back as a coach under Riley. Jamrog doesn't belong around this program as a coach or administrator, he made his bed with Pelini. If there's a former player to bring back for the ST opening, it's Carlos Polk. Nobody else.

Whomever coach Riley hires for the opening will have responsibilities on the offensive side of the ball. Coach won't hire another staffer with a defensive background, our offensive staff is already short 1 guy; and I don't mean Cav short either. This eliminates not only Jamrog but Polk as well.

Get rid of who? Riley? No way. Just think that Jamrog is the real deal.

Yes. I think Denver wins tonight. They need to. The Raiders just pulled one out against the Panthers.

Would rather have Dan Jackson at South Dakota State over Jamrog. Jamrog is at Midland now and that is the perfect fit for him.

What do you think of Tavita?

I am not a JJ fan, BUT he did do a good job at special teams and as the walk on program head. Unfortunately he was also involved in some of the Pelini security apparatus. We had another GREAT special teams coach that I think went to Northern Colorado as a head coach but I can't remember his name or where he is at now. I suspect that MR already has a list of guys he is considering and I HIGHLY doubt that JJ is on that list.

Doesn't excite me, will give a chance.
Scott Downing is special teams coordinator and RBs coach at Liberty. He has been a head coach at Northern Colorado and was a tremendous special teams coach....kickers and punters especially at Nebraska.

Whoever is hired I hope he is a kick/punt return guru dude. DPE has only one year left and as you all know, DPE is electric.

Can he recruit?
He has been a recruiting coordinator at least at one of his stops. It really doesn't matter because I'm sure that Riley already has somebody in mind. For this to have happened so quickly, he has to have been thinking about this for a long time. Whomever he hires, I expect him to be immensely qualified.

Scott Downing is a great guy and recruiter. But,,,, he quit when Callahan came on because he didn't want to work that hard.
And you know that's why he quit because????? Quitting BC is hardly a resume killer. I'm not lobbying for him, I just remember what he did with our kicking game.

Does he still insist on wearing the headset to work?

I'll take one for the team and take the job. I'll even ask for a salary of only $250k. And I'll recruit like a mutha and bring in tons of talent. I just need a few references from you guys.;)o_O
Sorry, I'm in at $249,000

I hope he doesn't hire someone who can only coach Special teams. That really should be a part time job.

I mentioned this in another thread, but Brian Polian and Nevada just parted ways. He was the special team coordinator at ND, Stanford and ATM and his dad was the GM for the Colts. Would be a good hire. Most of his position coaching has been on the defensive side, but I believe he did coach TE's at Texas A&M.

Who is our best defensive recruiter and does Banks travel to recruits for in home visits?

Les Miles or Doug Coleman, ex husker linebacker back in the day. Les could come with his son. of course i'm thinking outside the box.

Scott Downing went from Nebraska assistant to Northern Colorado head coach to Tulsa assistant to some CFL team assistant and is now at Liberty. If Scott Downing could recruit, his resume wouldn't look as bad as it has.

Maybe it's personal choice, which then gives me doubts he has the drive.

All of our defensive recruiters are strong. Banker does do visits. He's got photos up on twitter quite a bit.

With any luck the NCAA approves the 10th coach to staffs. When? Who knows.
