How much does he get paid? We're in a pretty bad bargaining position with the admin, boosters & fans all begging him to come and save our program. I think he can pretty much name his price and many on here would be just fine with that.

How's Riley working out? Just curious, because taking a chance on a career ,500 coach seems to be working out well.

Oh wait....that's right....it's Peelini's fault...or TO's fault, or he hasn't had enough time. BS. This is a complete shit-show.

If Riley gets fired and you want Frost, you’d better be damn sure he will jump onboard. Imagine if you fire Riley after three seasons, after firing an a-hole coach that won 9 games a season (and a couple before that who won 10 games a season), then get turned down by an up and coming alumni. Who would take the job of Frost wouldn’t?

I think SF takes it, but in the event he doesn't I can find a tree stump (or maybe a used up 4.6.3 MR lotion bottle) that can do a better job.

To all of you in this thread that think this is a pro-Riley or anti-Frost post, you need to reread it.

. A lot of fans were singing Pelini praises when he first got hired and look how that worked out. Personally, I would like to see Jeff Brohm at least get an interview, if not a serious offer to coach. I think both would very good candidates, but hate to see the powers to be to put all the eggs in one basket with Frost.

You’d better be sure that Frost will take it or we’ll have another scramble and end up with a Callahan again.

you can't keep Riley, regardless of whether Frost will or will not come.

Fear of who may or may not accept the position shouldn't be a reason to keep a failed hire

I really, really, really hope we spend an absurd amount of money and hire a proven winner. It's not good for anyone to bring in Frost in the next few months.

Heh, exactly.

A good percentage of posters endlessly blame Bo, TO, Frank.....heck "anybody" as long as it's not their adorable MR. "Results" mean absolutely nothing to them.

I'm 100 % serious. We should spend an absurd amount of money on a proven winner. Frost should be a back-up plan.

I'm all for making sure we get a pool of quality guys. I also think frost would be top 3 on any list that included realistic candidates (i.e. Unlike the idiots who think Chris Peterson is realistic)

I don't necessarily disagree .. but what coaches out there come to mind that would leave their current position for NU for $7-9 million .. I think there are very few proven winners that could be uprooted at any price

Please no.
The offenses are very similar. My personal hope is that if Frost comes, he slows the pace some. Going that fast in the B1G is a recipe for disaster. Puts way too much strain on a defense that is going to go up against physical teams more often than not (see Pelini, Blo)

Here's the deal with Frost:

Pros:
Ex player and from Nebraska, truly cares for the University and the people of the state.

Has shown this very year that as a head coach, he can build a team into a winner.

Plays a modern style college football offense.

He's young, if given enough time, he could build a juggernaut (i.e. like what Mike Gundy is doing at OSU)

Cons:
He hasn't been a head coach very long, can he sustain success?

Does he recruit very well? Will he be able to lure top prospects to Lincoln?

Since he's young, does he have a network of assistant coaches that would be willing to work with him?

To me the fact that he's been able to build a team into a winner, we all see that, and the fact that he would have a truly vested interest in making the Huskers great again, it's a no brainer to give him a shot. The thing is though, fans would need to be patient and give him time to build the team to his style.

I'm not sure. We certainly wouldn't be in on the 'A' list guys. But I'd personally be looking at proven winners first.

You don't think Frost knows this???

I understand why you feel we need a proven winner. This hire will be a make or break hire and we have to get it right. That said, IMO Scott Frost is the real deal. His background as a great player at Nebraska who came from a very small town in Nebraska will unite the fans.

I won't be upset if Nebraska hires a proven winner or if they end up hiring Scott Frost. Either case IMO will be a win win situation.

I won't be upset if we hire Frost. He's most certainly one of the top up-and-coming coaches in the country. Great pedigree. I hope our fan base gives him the time he deserves. The first few years would be rough.

I like the proven winnner talk. But who are those guys, available next season? Do you really think we can get guys like Petersen and Dabo?? Or are you taking about guys like Gundy, Whittingham, Mullen?

I'm not talking about Petersen or Dabo. That's crazy talk.

Anyone who thinks Peterson or Dabo would come for any amount of money are insane.

UCF has a better TOP than tOSU does this year and just a tick above Penn State, It seems as if TOP is not as big of an issue as you think it may be. Both of those teams seem to be doing fine in the B10.
