I'm NOT to sit here and lie and say that we need to support the coach and blob Loblaw (talent, his players and system - if I want to see that I will look to his record) be better we need to be the greatest fans and all that will guess what the staff and certainly the AD have let us down.

In fairness to nice guy Riley I will allow At the minimum the ad and all assistant need to be fired this year. And the new AD can pick the new assistants.

LET THE FIRINGS BEGIN!! And haul out Eichorst for a forced public apology as well.

Who is Eichorst?

We don't need a Lawyer to pick new Asst.. That Is how he called at hiring a new Head Coach.

Whatever happens, it needs to start with Perlman & Eichorst.

Does anyone think Perlman is getting fired with 8 or so months to retirement?

The man has meddled with football over the years sure, but he's the guy that cemented NU's academic future in the B1G (which is his *real* job).

Him? No. Question is, will he/can he protect SE if those with power want his ass?

Unknown, by me. I don't know exactly who the final belly button is on issues concerning the AD's employment. President vs Chancellor or BoR vs any of the aforementioned.

HP is in no danger and neither is SE. SE is safe for at least a year given the

Logically SE is safe for at least a year. HP is the main driver and it would take a huge revolt by a majority of the BOR to apply enough pressure for him to do anything. You've got one Regent in particular that has to be still pissed about Bo and that involves some $$$. He isn't going to be happy with HP no matter what he does. Nobody is happy about the W/L record but most have to realize that there is more to consider than the first year record of a head coach.

Riley is safe for another year, but Eichorst should be held accountable. Specifically for only interviewing one candidate, instead of using a search firm to vet a wide selection of possible candidates.

It will be interesting if Erstad gets the Dodgers job, because it will force Eichorst to have to crawl out of his hole. Will the boosters even want him to be the one to hire the next baseball coach?

+1 As an alumnus, Harvey has done great things academically for the university, and he will be remembered as one of the all-time greatest chancellors in UNL history.

Has he? What exactly has he done "academically" for the university? What was his role in getting NU admitted to the B1G? What was his role in getting NU kicked out of the AAU? What was his role in signing Steve Pedersen to an extension right before firing him, and how many millions did that cost the university? Please be specific. Thanks.

Hopefully Riley has realized that he need to retire as the game has passed him by as he clearly doesn't understand it anymore.

Coaching counts

The purdue removed all doubt of any talent arguments or Pelini recruiting theories.

Look at penalties

Turnovers

Defense ranking that's falling everyday 126/128

Play selection

Clock management

Leadership with players - these guys are modeling Riley's uninterested demeanor on the sidelines and many after the game didn't realize they had just been beat by one of the worst teams in the country.

Isolating yourself on the sideline - how is this coaching - that's called watching the game

Look at the future - we need to take steps now with a new ad and a couple assistants to help Nebraska avoid being turned into Oregon state.

Weren't you also one of the folks said he shouldn't be let back on the bus?

Not exactly Nostradamus

I said Eichorst shouldn't be allowed on the bus immediately just like this post. If someone offered me a dream job and I'm an average coach I take it - I don't blame Riley for this I blame Eichorst

If you look at my post gm history I was spot on with the losses I predicted with this insane hire.

There is a chunk of people on this board like many people in life who just live in denial. Must be hard when reality sets in. Unfortunately, it just proves I was right more so than Nostradamus who really wasn't that accurate at all - just another street hustler who made vague predictions.

I actually said we may not make a bowl this year with this clown at Coach.

Let's do nothing for a period of years we haven't hit bottom yet - it's best to blindly trust
That's what I chose for the sole reason the first season hasn't been completed yet. While I'd love to see Banker and Reed canned, I don't expect it to happen.

I also don't think a new coaching staff would be ideal given next year's schedule and also don't think you'd be able to find a top notch coach to come here with the 1 year and you're out precedent. With that said, this is the easiest schedule Nebraska will have for a long, long time which makes this season an even bigger disaster.

The faster we get to HP's retirement the better. I don't see SE making it much longer after that. As for MR who knows.

I want the new AD to be a football guy. Someone who is also willing to consult with other coaches/ football people. The AD job is easy outside of hiring the right coaches. Eichorst is way overpaid and he doesn't get sports, especially Football.

I support lobotomies for some "fans".

As long as we're wishing, why stop there. Let's get rid of all the players too and really start from scratch. go get 30-35, 5* recruits and let em play. Speed wins.

That is an interesting strategy...if you want to pursue that, Nebraska better hire Eddie "the bagman" Gran.

The AAU thing had NOTHING to do with HP. Specifically the Nebraska Unicameral passed a bill several decades ago that split the campuses up so that the UNMC research dollars couldn't be counted by the AAU in determining NU's qualifications to remain in the AAU. Why it took several decades for the AAU to decide that is another story but it no doubt had something to do with some politics from our move from the B12 to the B1G. NU was riding high in national perception when those extensions were inked if you recall. There was a huge build up to the USC game and NU was ranked and at that time expected to compete for at least a conference championship. Sentiment among many boosters, regents and fans was that we needed to lock up SP and BC before somebody else hired them away. Hindsight says that was ludicrous but those were the facts of the situation on the ground in money circles in Lincoln.

Firing pelini was spot on but why in the heck bring in a dumpster fire of a coach who has instantly made us terrible in almost all aspects of the game. I've never seen anything like it. Just goes to show life is like a box of chocolates.

If Erstad gets the LA job (fingers crossed), we gotta get rid of our AD before he can completely f**k up another coaching search. Period!!

Who is Eichorst?
Eichorst is Harvey Perlman's new Steve Peterson. Pretty much the same guy, but since he doesn't speak publicly he is able to avoid the foot in mouth disease Slippery Pete (oh yeah I am not supposed to use that nickname but the statute of limitations may be over) suffered from.

Eichorst really has an easy gig. He can take the stuff he doesn't like and hates to do, like talking to the media, and just say "I am not going to do that".

What other A.D. with a seven figure contract package gets away with that?
