One of my brothers went and got with a very loud mouth longhorn fan.
She has now brought a uoftexas tervis cup to dirty santa and she just made the comment that maybe we will have a good recruiting class by the time we play Oklahoma.
I am a typical take shit Nebraska fan like Dr. Tom but my oldest brother is not.
My first reaction to seeing that comment was atleast we have that excuse, but I haven't said a word yet.
I know you all have some killer stuff and I need to fill my pockets full in case she pushes too much.
Please?

I would just let them go out on the limb first, then inquire about their record last year, and how the big 12 network is doing, in light of the big 12 loyalty they found while trying to join the pac 10? and congratulate them on letting black people play football there for the first time in 1970. also perhaps chat about how baylor, tcu and houston are the top in texas football, these days. basically no need for smack talk, just basic reality.

How about if their so smart how come come they didn't qualify for a bowl game this year despite having a losing record like Nebraska did.

Nebraska played in a bowl game did texas.

Yu might also bring up that OU is allegedly leading a move to shut down the Longhorn Network...I read that somewhere, cant replicate it right now...

I usually try to act like the adult in a situation like that. I always come out the winner. Winking

I was really hoping for some really good memes.
I plan on being the good husker fan I always am (humble, accept criticism, respectful of all teams, ect..). My other brother on the other hand is kind of one of the "bad" husker fans who enjoys a little trash talking. So I was hoping to pass him some good ammo for her.

Are you going scorched earth on this lady? SOME texans have overly inflated egos when it comes to texas. Texas has to be #1 for them in EVERYTHING, AND if something is good outside of texas, it's only good BECAUSE of texas.

So you hit where it hurts the most, their beloved state.

Do you know what state has the highest population? It's California, they're almost double the next closest state.

Do you know what the largest state is? It's Alaska. Alaska is SOOOOOO BIGGGGG, It's MORE than double the next closest state. Who's 2nd, who cares, you're just like everyone else.

Do you know what state has the most billionaires? California, then New York, then Florida.

Do you know what the hottest state by average temperature is? Hawaii. Who's 2nd? Florida. How bout 3rd? I don't care, once you get down the list YOU'RE just like everyone else. But if you have to know it's Louisianna.

If you're talking football, this may come up. NU is only good because they recruit so many texas players. Well, we need somebody for our second and third strings. Challenge them to name all these players from texas. Here's the point, they think we have 105 guys on our roster that are ALL from texas.

I'm wingin' it here, so fix anything that's inaccurate. We've had 3 Heisman trophy winners. All from Texas, LOL NOT. One was from California, one was from New Jersey, and one was from right here in good ol' Nebraska.

The important point is go on the offense, don't play defensively. Dismiss everything that you don't care about that they throw at you. WELL NEBRASKA IS NOT the biggest state. Who cares?

Try .45 it has very good stopping power, makes a big hole going in and an even bigger one coming out, if it comes out. Hollow point will eliminate the coming out issue.

You can ask her why, in the last 40 years, has Texas won only 1 NC in that time frame?

Why did Texas always struggle so much against lowly Nebraska, barely scraping by time after time?

Why does OU have such a huge lead in Big 12 football titles compared to them?

Why did they suck so bad the last few years with all that talent they have?

Why is Baylor so much better than them now?

Good try. I think only Texas fans actually think they won the game.

LOL. Nah. But I very well understand that this line of thinking is a long-running Nebraska coping mechanism. Anyway, the NCAA rulebook (along with similar adjustments in at least a half dozen games since, e.g., Auburn's "Kick Six" win over Alabama) says we won, so who cares about the opinions of people ignorant of the rules or too blinded by hatred of Texas to think rationally? ;)

Oh well you got curb stomped after that, so there is a silver lining.

Not sure I'd call any game where the loser trails by three points with just over two minutes remaining a curb-stomping, but suit yourself.

How'd Nebraska's last MNC game appearance go, by the way? When was that again? Were your recruits today even potty-trained then?

I can't talk too much smack about Texas being Nebraska is pretty far down too. But man, all that cash and resources? Hands down the most underachieving program in the country.

So will Texas'.

LOL. I'd love to put a good deal of money on this if there were some way to collect. You know it's empty talk. You know it's a matter of time before Texas gets its house in order and returns to prominence. You know it, I know it, and every Nebraska fan with a functioning brain stem knows it. Cool

Texas: All the money in the world of college football, nothing to show for it.

Certainly not the last six years, that's for sure. But as crappy as they've been, Texas still has the 6th-best winning percentage since the first year of the BCS among teams that have been in a P5 conference during the majority of those years. And Texas didn't have any financial advantages to speak of in the 15+ years before that.

But you know that the resources plus the location means that Texas is inevitably going to be a power again -- and sooner rather than later. Deep down you also know that Nebraska has already won the last national championship in the history of its program.

Coming from a Texas fan. You have less relevancy than we do at this point. Keep trying.. You're so close.

LOL. This is kind of like two double amputees arguing about who has the longer stumps.

But the difference is that our recruiting classes this year and last will put whomever is coaching in 2017 in a far more enviable position than whoever is coaching at Nebraska in 2017.

For the last six seasons, one certainly can't argue otherwise. I can think of several other programs who are bigger underachievers on an even slightly longer time scale, though.

Since your recruiting classes have done so much over the years. I do agree with the highlighted.

They did plenty before Mack Brown retired without telling anyone in 2010 and started letting Bobby Burton dictate his staff's "evaluation" of talent (after having already dialed back the work put into recruiting in the three years before that). In retrospect, his final classes were clearly massively overrated (see, e.g., no draft picks in 2014 for the first time in 76 years), and a large number of players from those classes didn't even come close to lasting four years in the program. Accordingly, the class rankings don't say a great deal about the actual talent that Texas has had on campus. Class rankings also don't capture Mack's extraordinary negligence in his handling of QB and OL recruiting in his final seasons.

On the other hand, Strong evaluates better than Mack's staff ever did, he doesn't fill up classes nine months before NSD by blindly following Bobby Burton's recommendations, and he fights for recruits that Mack stopped fighting for back in 2006. Unlike most of Mack Brown's classes, there have been no throwaway offers in Strong's two full recruiting classes. The talent he pulled in last year and that he's about to pull in this year will mean that the actual level of talent on campus will shortly be higher than it has been since 2009.

Nebraska has always been the better program, with less resources, and that won't change. UT is the laughing stock of college football.

National champs? Nebraska > Tejas
Conference champs? Nebraska > Tejas
Heismans? Nebraska > Tejas

We won 3 while i was in college...I am good if we dont win another in my lifetime..Texas has 3 ...ever
