The big things I notice with Shorts is that he played the position. It looks like he's coaching the finer points of playing the position-- which a lot of coaches can do, but kids may be more receptive to hearing from a guy who has been there and was as good or better of a player than they are. The second thing is that he is familiar with Coach Holgorsen. He knows what Dana wants out of his receivers, he knows the offense. It's a great hire.
This looks like a really good hire by Rhule. I shorts can bring in a couple of stud WRs. To set a new standard he needs to add the best to the room so current players can see what great looks like and visualize that standard. The standard they saw this year is not even close to where it needs to be.The big things I notice with Shorts is that he played the position. Or maybe he saw how bad our secondary depth was and made a decision to try and get on the field?Have no idea why Doss ever left the receiver position. Just a brain dead decision. Maybe he was too good at blocking caused the position switch.
Our receiver depth was way worse.Or maybe he saw how bad our secondary depth was and made a decision to try and get on the field?
Not on paper it wasn't. In fact most people thought receiver was going to be the strength of the team at the beginning of the season. Didn't pan out that way, but also there was some large losses in the DB room. Newsome, Omar, etc.Our receiver depth was way worse.
