I am a fan of HP but sometimes a fresh start is good. He has done a bunch for NU and been rewarded financially for that but IMO, a new guy might be a good thing for everybody involved. No matter how bad things have seemed over the last year, worldstar's sig pic below reminds me that we have seen worse days.
The last time we played in a major bowl was Harvey's first year as Chancellor. That was a lot of years ago...and those two juxtaposed facts may not be a coincidence.Go easy on the Harv......he got us in the B1G and out from under the thumb of Texas. He sucks at picking ADs and HFCs but thank goodness the Big 12 is in the rear view mirror.
Was a Jewish lawyer your mom's "special" friend when you were a kid and it broke up your family or something? Good grief. The last time we played in a major bowl was Harvey's first year as Chancellor. That was a lot of years ago...and those two juxtaposed facts may not be a coincidence.
Harvey has little to do with football? Coulda fooled me. From what I could tell Harvey was more involved in football than he should have been.My opinion is shared by many well educated alums that realize what Harvey brought to the table for NU. Unfortunately some of you knuckle draggers fail to look past the football team's record which in fact Harvey has little to do with. Tom had 7 years to do something special with football and he refused to make a change. If you want to blame somebody, Tom named Frank and Tom hired Bo. That's way more years of responsibility than Harvey could ever be construed to be responsible for.

I think the issue that I see is all the politics that Perlman surrounds himself with. His main job is to set the environment by which his charges can succeed. In this respect at least from an athletics standpoint his moves always involve some CYA or he inserts himself in an issue through the media. A perfect example was a story I read about how Riley was hired, Perlman was interviewed and at one point stated " I just wanted to make sure he was a good guy, let me be clear its the AD role to hire a coach" If you decipher this in attorney speak basically he is saying if it is not the right decision its Eichorst fault not his.Can you please elaborate with specifics? From my vantage point, Harvey has done the following:
1) Hire Steve P (hiring an AD is the chancellor's role at every university as far as I know)
2. Fire Steve P (firing an AD is the chancellor's role at every university as far as I know)
3. Hire Tom (see #1)
4. Hire Shawn Eichorst after Tom voluntarily resigned at a date that was pre determined (see #1 & #3)
5. Help get Nebraska admitted to the Big 10 (which I believe everyone agrees was a positive move)
6. Oversee many expansion projects that have helped to keep NU on pace with other schools in regards to athletic facilities.
Can you elaborate on what you think HP has done, regarding the football program, to overstep his role as chancellor?

I am sure people will call me a hater but he seems weak and does not seem to me to create an environment where it makes it easier to succeed but rather an environment where there is always drama
PS - Do you live on the Eastside or in Seattle proper?
You may be right about Perlman, I do think money is what is building facilities - when you see WSU expanding and Iowa building top flight facilities its more a reflection of the huge sums of confer money going around due to TVI kind of see what you're saying but I have a hard time saying he doesn't make "it easier to succeed" when he got us out of a failing conference and oversaw the expansion that at one point (not long ago) left us with top 5 football facilities and top 3 basketball facilities. Doesn't that by definition facilitate success? In my opinion, it does.
We're on the east side. Just moved in to a new home in Issaquah after 3 years in Redmond. Where are you located?

Spinner writes another post blasting all things huskers but that's just a coincidence...
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
Touché. The reality is I probably didn't need to point it out. It was pretty evident already. And Timnsun has to point it out, but that's just a coincidence.

So this is all on Perlman? Wow... Wish we would have gotten rid of him 15 years ago, then we would still be on top!I'd add the fact that HP (a trained lawyer) also failed to put mitigation clauses in SPs contract, BCs contract (indirectly), as well as extending contracts the same year some aforementioned people were fired costing UNL millions.
The main issue is that his ego is out of control (see his "perls of wisdom" to see the ego truly on display). HP is great for academics, but outside of joining the B1G his chancellor reign correlates to the worst stretch of FB performance in 50+ years.

Obvious troll attempt on my part... My apologies. I just get tired of the scapegoating going on. Our problems are so much more than 1 person. We are too quick to only accentuate the negatives. Anytime someone brings up our entry into the B1G and credits Perlman, people instantly take issue with that. You're better than a response like this. This is a very complex issue where blamed is shared by many parties. Hell, you could even say Byrne has a role in all this since he didn't want to give our HC job to FS when TO retired (making TO retire early to ensure he could keep his promise to FS without any Byrne interference). But by all means go ahead with your attempts to whitewash Perlman.
