Huskers Welcome Jayhawks for Saturday Exhibition
The Nebraska baseball team concludes its fall schedule this weekend when the Huskers host Kansas in an exhibition game on Saturday. First pitch for the 12-inning game is set for 1:05 p.m., at Hawks Field at Haymarket Park.
Admission is free to the game and gates will open one hour before first pitch. A limited number of menu items will be available to purchase at selected concession stands.
This marks the second consecutive year the Huskers and Jayhawks will square off in a fall game, as KU visited Lincoln last year on Oct. 6 for a scrimmage. The NCAA Division I Council adopted legislation in April 2018 to allow two fall exhibitions that do not count toward a team's 56-game spring schedule.
NU opened this fall with a 10-8 road win (12 innings) over Wichita State on Sept. 21. The Huskers produced 18 hits and four home runs in the victory over the Shockers.
Nebraska continued its fall schedule with the annual Red-White Series last week. After the two teams tied, 5-5, in a five-inning game on Oct. 9, the Red team clinched the series with a 7-1 win (nine innings) in Game 2 on Oct. 14.
Last season, the Huskers went 32-24 overall and qualified for their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last six years. NU posted a 15-9 record in Big Ten play to tie for third in the conference before finishing runner-up at the conference tournament. Last season, Kansas went 32-26 overall and posted a 12-12 record in Big 12 play.
