State tournaments begin next month so this is a recap of Husker commits. It is difficult to find season records so I might be off on wins and losses.
Jake Silverstein (NY) In the Super 32 Classic he finished 6th out of 146 wrestlers in the 145# class. He had a record of 6 wins and 3 loses.
In the Ironman he had a record of 4-2 and finished 7th in the 152 lb. class
His current record is 27-5
Over 200 wins in high school. He projects as a 149/157 lber.
Alex Thomsen (IA) Flowrestling currently rates Thomsen as the #46 overall prospect in the class of 2018 and #5 at 126 pounds. An undefeated three-time state champion, 139-0 in his first 3 seasons.
In the finals of the Council Bluffs Classic he faced Teske, a Penn State recruit, who was undefeated in the state of Iowa. This was a battle of two 3 time undefeated Iowa state champs. Thomsen lost 11-9. He was tied but gotten taken down in the last 3 seconds.
Last weekend they wrestled again and Thomsen won in overtime. He is now 36-1 on the season thus 175-1 in his career. Nebraska can certainly use help at 125#
Brock Hardy (Utah) He is a 3 time state champ with a 3 year record of 129-3. He projects as a 149/157 lber. Will take a two year mission after high school.
In the Ironman Hardy went 5-0 with a fall in the finals to win the championship. His weight class had several top 15 ranked wrestlers in it. Pinned the No. 1-ranked high school wrestler in the nation, Mason Phillips, in a tournament in Washington state on Dec. 27. Intermat has him at #3 in the 145# class. He is undefeated this season with a record of 37-0. In a tournament this weekend he went 6-0 with 6 pins. If he wasn’t taking the two year mission he would be the top candidate to replace Berger at 157#
Jevon Parrish (KS) Was state champ at 126 lbs. his junior year. His 3 year record is 121-19. He finished 4th as a frosh and 3rd as a soph. Projects as a 141/149 lber.
In the finals of the Council Bluffs Classic he finished 2nd losing 9-7 in SV. He is 34-2 this season.
Josh Mason (PA) 133 lbs. went 40-8 last season and 85-8 for his first three seasons. Did not place in the state tournament
Anthony Gaona (KS) 195 lbs. Came in 4th in Class 5A his junior year. This season he has a record of 25-1
