In the podcast this week (12:45-13:15), Dr. Rob says that talk among "those in the know" prior to the official announcement of Bill Moos was that Mitch Barnhardt from Kentucky was going to be the AD.
According to Wikipedia, Mitch Barnhardt (born August 27, 1959 in Kansas City, KS) is the athletics director for the Kentucky Wildcats athletics program at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. Barnhart was hired by the university in 2002 succeeding Larry Ivy.[1] Barnhart served in the same capacity at Oregon State University from 1998-2002.
Assuming they were talking to Barnhardt, they spoke with at least two ADs with direct ties to Mike Riley. This is not likely a coincidence. I am disgusted with Mike RIley. I think he needs to go immediately. He is a piss poor coach and it has been obvious he would fail since year one (Since 1994, 100% of all coaches who started out with a losing record at a blueblood program were fired - all but one within 5 years).
With that said, the Barnhardt claim would give me a more than a glimmer of hope that Riley might stick around if I were a strong Riley advocate.
Any thoughts?
