How's your "Recruit Radar?"

I've been following the recruiting boards here and elsewhere for 10 years or more and, like everyone, try to read between the lines when a kid comments or when I see a photo of him on the sidelines.

My instincts kick in and I get a feeling about a guy based on a quote or whether he seems to be having a good time at the game.

I can tell you that my recruit radar is absolutely wrong about 70% of the time. A recruit says something that I think rules him out as a commit and the next week he announces for Nebraska. I see a photo of him on the sideline and am certain that he's not enjoying himself and he declares his love for the Huskers the following day. A kid says he was blown away by the experience in Lincoln and I get my hopes up and then he opts for another team a week later..

I've given up trying to speculate about who's "N" or not and have just grown to appreciate the process and especially the job this staff is doing to give us a lot of shots on goal with multi-star recruits. This weekend is a great example of that and only time will tell how successful we are in landing our next great player ... or two ... or three.

Do any of you have better luck than I do with projecting commits?
