With alllllllll of the talk about who our next head coach will be, it got me thinking about where my mind was at the last time we were in this situation, and why we keep getting here.
Then I thought to myself, you could make a strong argument that for our last 3 head coaches, it was actually their coordinators and assistant coaches who were the downfall of their respective bosses.
Callahan possessed the offensive mind to win big, but Cosgrove coached like he was getting paid to give up points.
Pelini, who dug his own grave over his tenure, didn't do himself any favors by just promoting all of his buddies who didn't know jack about coaching.
And Riley brought along his bum coach friends from OSU, who simply aren't good enough at this level.
So my question is, are the coordinators and assistants MORE important than the head man himself? If we handed Frost and Les Miles the same set of assistants, would their results be much different?
