Tanner Farmer, Peyton Newell, Jalin Barnett, David Knevel, Dwayne Johnson, Jerald Foster, Christain Gaylord, Davis Twins, Sedrick King, Daishon Neal and Alex Davis, Mick Stoltenberg, Michael Decker, Eric Lee and Avery Anderson. Of these young guys who will see the most PT first? I gotta go with Stoltenberg. Thought he should have been on the field this year. Insider thoughts?

Man that is a lot of OL and DL talent with some skill positions sprinkled in.

As I've been saying we were incredibly young this year. And i can see Riley and his staff building this team up. Just think of the true and redshirts freshmen that played this year getting experience and coaching. How can anyone not be excited for the future?

The names I hear the most are Farmer, Barnett, Foster, Gaylord, Davis x2, DavisRE, Mick, Lee and AA.

I guess I don't see how on one hand people say we don't have talent and on the other that they are excited for the future.

I feel sorry for you then.

Seriously, were all of these freshmen supposed to start? If so, how do you think the season would have been better? Certainly not all the names were freshmen, but most of them were. This isn't Michigan basketball and the fab five... You can have young talent that isn't yet ready.

Depends on how good they prove to be. If any respective players turn out to be "good," then Riley coached them up. Conversely, if any respective players turn out to be "bad," then......Bo Pelini.

I can't wait to watch posters reaching to blame Bo Pelini when even players from this 2016 class fail. It WILL happen.
Good to know I can start a post to talk about football and in only minutes some tool shows up to start a pissing match mentioning Bo's name. Nice work recycled tool!!Sick

So you are, or are hoping for Polarizing?

Start? No. Play? Well that would have been nice. Would probably help in that development that RR70 was talking about. You feel sorry for me? I will cry to sleep on that sick burn

I think we should expect better talent development and MR is a steady calm guy so maybe less attrition due to personality clashes with the coach.

Pelini always had a lot of fallout on his classes if Riley can get contribution from a higher percent it can make a big difference over the next couple of years

We did see freshmen play this year, but not along the lines. This is where most of that development comes in the first year. How often do you see true freshmen starting, or even playing along the lines? It's a rare occurrence. Most of the names listed were linemen. Again, not all of them are true freshmen, but each true freshman on the line redshirted, which usually bodes well for the future.

And I apologize about the burn... I didn't intend for you to lose sleep, just a friendly joke.

I thought Stoltenberg played special teams and got some minutes when VV went down. He is credited with 9 games and 2 solo tackles.

He did see some playing time, just not enough for us to get a taste of what we hope he can do. :)

Timnsun is right. Majority of the guys listed are true freshmen. True freshmen that may be talented but to some extent need to live in the weight room. And you dont burn a shirt for a few game reps. Only ones I agree it would have been nice to see get some reps are bigger rFr such as Farmer and Foster.

we are going to be extremely young and inexperienced along the offensive line
aside from Gates and Utter we have almost zero experience and I'm not sure Utter is all that talented

the offensive line may be worse in 2016 -- I don't know how people think we are going to be successful with a power running game next year
a lot of shotgun and quick throws before the Dline can break through or spread formations with trying to run in the cracks

it remains to be seen whether that is the offense the staff wants to run or has to run given the current state of the offensive line

Very accurate!! The 16 OL is going to take time and probably not very good. I still can't understand why Foster didn't get at least some snaps (this is concerning). the RS was burned, so why not get some snaps knowing we weren't going anywhere. Farmer is another concern. Does anyone really believe they are so good that they couldn't crack the line this year? Farmer has very short arms, so I'm guessing that's something that is concerning for him. He can lift a house, but so could Robert Gallery. I think we listen or read the hype too much on this site and or I guess you could say if for any kool-aid home boards.

Seems like every year we have strengths in certain areas (WR/TE this year) but then we lack in other areas (OL). We really need depth and more blue-chippers or 4 stars. Then 2017 our OL should be better, but we lost all starters at WR and TE. Our DL and LB's should be good while our DB's are going to be young freshman....Then we lose our entire DL but 1 and LB but 1 next year and very little as far as depth.
