Not just this game but every game. Everytime there is a good play a flag is thrown or there is a review with an overturn.

A TD last night at USC.

Roughing the passer Iowa

These are just a few quickly.

These officials are the worst in the country. Makes the games hard to watch knowing all good plays will be called back.

They should be graded for their performance in each game and if they don’t meet a standard, should not be allowed to Referee games in the Big-10.
Agreed but who's going to do the judging? The same people in the review control center? Hope not. As long as it's being evaluated by someone that isn't beholding to the script I approve otherwise probably nothing gained

They are grade and evaluated. Tje problem is nothing is ever done. There are no consequences and they know it . The only thing the big and every conference does is send apologies on Sunday to the coaches and say this or that was called incorrectly.

The worst call I have probably ever seen was last week on the PSU and OSU game. Howard from OSU was going down the sideline he got the ball punched out at the 2 yard line it went out of bounds but couldn’t tell if it went out after the phylon ( touchback) or before and would be OSU ball on the 1. Then I noticed the score changed . That incompetent fool at the goal line called a Touchdown Even though Howard crossed the goaline with no ball. The y reviews and called a Touchback: that official should never referee another game the rest of his life.

Sounds like you believe the officiating is incompetent.
I believe it's corrupt.

well we can start with...if you call a penalty for illegal equipment (for haivng two players wearing the same number, on the field at the same time) and upon replay, video evidence shows that to be wrong...then you lose your job.

i'm not sure i can think of a more blatant display of incompetence.

Note - This actually happened. Big 10 ref called it against UCLA when they played Iowa.

Don’t hire anyone who grew up a B1G fan. I lived in Ohio and Indiana for a number of years and the entire traditional B1G fanbase are either Ohio St or Michigan fans. The rest are psychologically damaged by Michigan and Ohio St. They want Ohio St and Michigan to play for the championship too. They pull for whichever one has the best shot at B1G/National championship as much as they pull for their own team. Non OSU/Mich fans talk about OSU and Mich as much or more than they talk about their own team.

Really pathetic to watch an entire conference and its fans suck off 2 teams, cuck themselves and treat the other 9 teams as an afterthought. This attitude and sentiment permeates the entire traditional B1G fanbase a nobody who grew up in that environment should be eligible or qualified to ref a B1G game ever.

Maybe the best way to improve officiating is to eliminate conference affiliation completely. Officials should crossover to all P4 conferences and be assigned outside of your geographical residence. Everyone gets graded every game. Perform poorly and you drop out of the pool of officials for P4 and get assigned to lesser conferences. Move up and down based on how you perform.

This is a great idea. If USC can fly to Rutgers for a FB game, there is no reason to have conference specific refs anymore.

Add a few more reviewable plays - facemask penalties seems like a correctable error. There may be others like that.

I’d also like to see something done to speed up the replay review process. How many times do you see a definitive replay on television, yet it still takes a few minutes for the officials to get things sorted out?
