I only read a little bit about this coach last year, only because the Houston Cougars had just blanked Vanderbilt 34-0 midway through the season last year. That got my attention. Maybe Vanderbilt wasn't all that good last year, 3-8, but still I didn't expect the Cougars to roll them either.

The attached ESPN article, Under Tom Herman, Houston won't back down from a challenge made me like this coach's attitude and reminded me of my previous time in the Army to train as you fight. Yeah his team is in the American Athletic conference, but he beat four ranked teams in his first year and went 13-1.

I'm a fan of Tom Herman now. The Cougars were definitely prepared to play and execute on the first game of the year. One day we'll be like that again for the first game of the season with a group of 3+ starred players.
