Just to lay the groundwork for next year so we don't get ahead of ourselves (me included)...

For the second straight year, only one regional host was outside the top 16 in RPI, Houston at #17. Since the Warren Nolan RPI is unofficial, it's entirely possible the committee went with straight chalk.

Lesson learned: High RPI is an absolute requirement for hosting these days.

When I read this, I thought "Good, he's going to say 'Do you think Nebraska will host a regional next year? Now we got that out of the way.'"

But yes, RPI at the top seems to be critical to be a regional host, but just for qualifying, more specific factors likely come into play (road success, record vs. top 50/top 100, record against teams being compared).
