This is end of season but before bowl game for power 5 conference teams.
If Huskers finish 12-1 (B1G Champions) History of last 4 years of polls show Huskers will finish in top 4.
If Huskers finish 11-2 (B1G champs but lose a regular season game) History shows Huskers will finish between 3rd to 5th.
If Huskers finish 10-2 (this means no big 10 championship game) History of last 5 years shows Huskers will finish between 5th at lowest 10th. Average of 10-2 is 7th
If Huskers finish 10-3 (B1G Championship game loss) History shows Huskers will finish 7th to 13th.
Point is two fold. 1-Pollsters will penalize you for playing in a Championship game & losing. 2-Its better to not play in a Championship game if you would lose. (Well Duh you say. Hey I understand but wanted to point it out from a ranking point of view ONLY.)
IMO Its always better to play for a Championship and fall short than never to play for one at all even if pollsters penalize a team for it. Here is my point of all this.
As long as Huskers don't collapse (Which very few believe they will) The Huskers will probably finish (according to history of last four years) between 5th to 13th. From last year to this year that is a MAJOR improvement and puts Nebraska back on the map, relevant, and now that we have a coach that isn't perceived as an @sshat going forward the program looks bright and back on track.
