I agree. Should have been thrown. However, Its a case of Armstrong throwing to get a call. Problem in doing that is, sometimes it doesn't get called. Part of the game. Got our run game stopped and the pass at the end wasn't where it needed to be ( just like a bunch of others throughout the game ). Its all part of it. Sucks, I know, But redemption is only one week away. Keep The Faith And Go Big Nebraska Red!!!!!!!! :)

Unfortunately, Jordan stopped his route. I'm not convinced it's PI, and it sucks to say that.
Of course. Always got to be somebody to try and be "the big man" and say that an obvious penalty wasn't. And we're all supposed to bow down and worship you for being so "fair minded". Well, excuse me if I don't play along with your schtick.

Ah, another of the "bigger man" crowd. Who probably would have said we got away with one of it had gone the other way. Because that's how people like you always are. Our opponents get every single tiny benefit of the doubt on everything including officiating calls from people like you. We get none. Been seeing this for years.

There is nothing about stopping his route or whatever in the rule. Did contact occur? Yes. Did it impede an eligible player from receiving a catchable forward pass? Yes. It's pass interference, plain and simple.

Except, I don't see him catching the ball so one can easily say it's uncatchable.

Go to bed.

After watching that about 10 times I'm not even convinced that Watt touched him at all other than maybe a little tap with his right hand that didn't impede his movement or ability to catch the ball at all. Looks like Westy just stopped the route so he wouldn't run into him and then made a last second lunge when he saw where the ball was which made it look worse than it really was. I don't think Watt "knocked him down" at all.

It was one play. Their were others to be had all game. The playing calling leading up to that was worse imo.

12 for 31 and 2 int's.

38 perc

Needed to spread the field in OT. 2 runs for 1 yard, dumb.

Needing 10 yards for a 1st down and TA throws into double coverage in the back of the end zone, really dumb.

Had a chance to steal this game. They blew it and a lot of coaches choked at the end.

you have to play above any bs.
we are 2 years away from winning these games.
next year we will have a true passing qb, but that will be a training wheels year.
riley has done a great job with what he came into and what he's had to work with.

Doesn't really look like PI to me. Westerkamp just stopped running and there was minimal contact, if there was any contact at all. If you call PI there you've got to call it on virtually every play in a football game.

If that same contact happened with Westy instigating allowing for a receiver to run open (pick), Westy would have been called for offensive PI. The amount of contact is immaterial it's whether or not the receiver or defenders progress was impeded by the contact. But I digress

I believe the play design is for Westy to settle in the middle of the zone, and not a crossing route. That's why he appeared to cut off his route. I believe Tommy saw Watt dropping in the zone and thought Westy would adjust the route and continue a little further.

Right or wrong, I think the refs consider if the play is one that can be made. The pass was into double, if not triple coverage, and the refs probably considered that it was a bad play regardless so they aren't going to reward you by throwing a bail-out flag in OT.

By the book, was it PI? I guess so. Would I have thrown it? Probably not.

What? A referee should never not call a penalty because they think it was thrown into double coverage or if the play could not have been made. Their job is to officiate the game and enforce the written rules period. Contact was made by the defender on an eligible receiver while the ball was in the air. That contact impeded the receiver's path to the ball.

i will agree all day that this one play didn't decide the game. There were plenty of other plays and combinations of plays that did that.

My opinion is that people are saying it wasn't PI are doing so as a defense, or to point out, that this play didn't cause the team to lose. I totally get that opinion. But if that same play happens with 3 minutes left in the first quarter, you can bet the flag comes out.

That is why you can't have officials making subjective decisions about catchable etc. penalty or not penalty.

I am still looking for all this contact in the reply. It wasnt from the guy beind. 42 is reading the play and heading for Wesy as an underneath cover. Westy is slowing up before 42 arrives and begins to go down early. Had Westy kept running 42 could not have even been close, 42 is going back, Westy is sideways. If Westy runs smack into 42 then maybe you get a call. at the worst, 42 was late to the party and barely got a left hand on Westy, and that not for long as Westy was already headed down. there is much more had checking going on nearly every play.

Call your optometrist, pronto. Don't wait. I don't want you driving on our roads like this.

One way to identify bad calls is listen to the announcers who are suppose to be impartial. Sometime they give it an, "I'm not sure about that one" but last night was a "how can that not be called". That comment by 2 impartial guys who get paid to watch football says it all.

So help us where, we're are all blind which I know every official is. So go into some detail of us blind people and detail where the contact occurred, by whom, when, who initiated, etc. Inquiring minds want to know. And you can't just say like your parents - because I told you so!

That's the thing....no in-depth analysis is required. It's so terribly evident that he got mugged that if you can't see it, you should probably watch a different sport. And in the same manner, the refs should probably choose to ref different sports. Or...just stop officiating sports entirely.

So, I'm watching the game, and my wife says "who in the hell is Tommy throwing the ball to?". I say Westerkamp, but they blocked him out. She says "isn't that pass interference?". I say "yes".

The refs kept their flags in their pockets. Game's over.

He starts slowing down way before any contact is made, and he even starts falling down before contact is made. That's not pass interference.

No, Du, this is what you always do buddy, and I can't let you off the hook. Another poster agrees that Westy was headed down before anyone even got there but to you he got mugged by the entire D. So I again ask you to explain who did it and when, all the details. I can't tell you how many football games I have watched in my life so don't try to give me that garbage. All you are doing is deflecting and I am not going there. Back it up. I will wait, lots of time.

This is the first I'm seeing the play and I gotta be honest, I thought it would be more egregious from how everyone talked. I will say that it's hard to tell whether or not the DB behind Westerkamp pushed him down or not but I honestly don't think Watt touched him much. Westerkamp should have just kept running and ran right into Watt.

Oh well...our destiny is in our hands. ....and we're still in the top 10....Keep enjoying the season.

Can't wait to watch us play at the Horseshoe.
