Lincoln, NE
Just recently moved here and have noticed quite the mix of different nationalities. What's the back story on that, if there is any? Is it because of
UNL?

Lincoln and Omaha are both among the primary destinations for refugees entering the United States. For instance, after Gulf War I there was a sizable population of Iraqi refugees who entered the city. Part of the reason is the low unemployment level and low cost of living.

Diverse??? Isn't Lincoln the most Caucasian place you can go, other than a Gap store?

Depends where you are coming from I guess...

In general, Lincoln lags in diversity compared to the overall diversity parameters of the current US population

Spot on, jay-cheese.

South Lincoln has more of a white demographic whereas, north Lincoln is more diverse. I've lived in north Lincoln for the last four years, and have come across many different nationalities. Of the 10 nearest homes in my neighborhood (including my own) there are 3 White, 2 African-American, 2 Eastern European/Middle Eastern, 2 Hispanic, and 1 Korean. I love the diversity, and all of us have a mutual respect for one another.

Lincoln is 88% caucasian. Fastest growing segments are asian and hispnanic, but it's still 88% caucasian

Pretty accurate. Heres the census stats from 2010 for Lincoln.

White alone, percent, 2010- 86.0%
Black or African American alone, percent, 2010- 3.8%
American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent, 2010- 0.8%
Asian alone, percent, 2010- 3.8%
Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, 2010- 0.1%
Two or More Races, percent, 2010- 3.0%
Hispanic or Latino, percent, 2010- 6.3%

I take it you haven't been to Grand Island yet. We're about as diverseas you can get.

Considering Lincoln as a future destination. Wife has an accounting background (not CPA) and my background is in sales. Any suggestions/info as to where to send resume's would be greatly appreciated. TIA

I live near 14th and Fletcher. Took my kids to the park a few times and nearly every kid besides my own were from other countries. I don't care at all, it's just that I didn't expect it. I see a lot of different ethnicities in my area of town is all. Thanks to those who provided informative feedback.
