Before covid he had historically low unemployment numbers! Surely you can’t be this dense can you? States have closed up so tight that unemployment skyrocketed... even now he is reversing that trend. But no, go ahead and believe what you want. It’s all Trump’s fault. It’ll all get better under Biden.

The improvement is due to Federal spending. Something Republicans have always SAID they are against, damn the unemployment rate.

Can't discuss economics, can you? Are you working the evening shift loading Amazon trucks?
I’m not the one foolishly ignoring the role of covid in the unemployment numbers now, am I? To even hint that the current unemployment level is because of Trump is one of the stupidest things I have read on this board.

Why, I’ll bet if Hillary won 4 years ago, not only would there be no unemployment, There wouldn’t be covid either!

I never said or hinted covid hasn't made a difference. Trump's response has been the problem. He has resisted advice from pretty much everyone else. His pre-covid economy was overrated anyway. He continued the trend of Obama and did so with increased deficits and spending.

Well, graduating from Harvard Law might make someone cocky. Also, in the words of Biden, Obama was "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," which might also cause him to be cocky.
You do realize how that works at Harvard right? IF you're a minority and/or a first generation immigrant you go to the front of the line of admissions at most Ivy League schools. In addition, school was free for Barack. Now that he's gone to Harvard and was a high ranking politician, admission for his daughter was virtually automatic. It had LITTLE to do with his and her academic qualifications or intelligence. The same is true for admission to their graduate schools. Harvard in particular puts great emphasis on social engineering and are proud of it.

So as a lifelong republican did you support bush and his lies of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq resulting in invasion and hundred of thousands dead
A friend of mine was an officer and spent a year in Baghdad. His brother died there. He said that in fact there had been chemical weapons there and they had multiple test results to prove that. The evidence that they likely were ferreted out of the country by the eventual ISIS leader has been virtually ignored. Those same chemical weapons were likely used later in Syria. Saddam had made attempts to buy nuclear material but his bluster about a dirty bomb was just that. .

Omg really! Please tell me you are not in business. Obama was a big talker and even had some good ideas but every single time he tried to implement something it was an unmitigated disaster.

The precovid economy was all Trump a and was smoking anything stated to the contrary is pure lunacy

The issue is whether we should have been there I say no and Bush used the fevor of patriotism from 9-11 to get us there. It’s surprising to me how democrats seem to love Bush now. Not saying you are democrat and I believe you are not but anyone they like is suspect to me

Sure, but he still graduated from Harvard law, correct? I didn’t say anything else about it.

I am no way shape or form a Democrat though I confess to voting for a few over the years. My first vote was for Carter. Yikes. I learned later what a bright and competent man Gerald Ford was. I've regreted that vote my whole life. I had the good fortune to get to meet Ford when he was I think in his early 80s. He was very bright and delivered a great speech earlier that day at a non-partisan college forum I helped sponsor.

There were multiple reasons to go in to Iraq and the WMD was just one of them. I don't envy anyone who has to make that kind of a decision. It royally F'd up the balance of power and removed a deterrent that kept Iran busy. Powell was right when he said, "If you break, you own it". I also had the honor of meeting Powell at that same university forum in a different year. Great guy. He spent about 20 minutes with just my wife and I before our governor joined us. Everybody else in the room was afraid to go up and talk to the guy. LOL.

In no way did I think your views lean democratic and I think we have all regretted a vote over the years I know I have.
My real point is that we finally have a president who has kept us out of wars and Trump had his chance if he wanted to do that. I am surprised that conservative do not reflect on this more and realize how large an issue this is. Liberals of course talk a good game of peace on earth but their policies inevitably lead to blood shed

On this one issue alone Trump deserves four more years

Who cares what Obama said when there is BLS data?

The rate for blacks has come down since mid 2011. L.A. times but BLS data/chart.

BTW, I always tell people that anyone in an executive position should at one thing first thing in the morning and throughout the day. With my coffee in the morning I would look at ... oil prices.

I’m sorry, I didn’t know we were looking at black unemployment numbers... you simply commented about unemployment. The article you quoted proves that the numbers may be higher at the moment for blacks (no mention of Hispanics) but are down even further for white people.

So what is your argument again? Black and Hispanic unemployment or overall unemployment?

It may have been someone else who mentioned minority unemployment. No matter. Again the trend was down once Obama slowed the rising unemployment. He entered office when unemployment was 7.7%. It did rise to close to 10% but was down to about 4.7% when he left office.

Again the trend was down. Sure Trump had it down to 3.5% but then it stopped there, well below covid-19. All the while, deficits kept rising. Mr. tough guy Trump could not slow down spending even with a R Congress.

True or a False ... lowest rate was under Trump? You can try to spin all you want, but the economy did fanatic under Trump. Deal with it kid.

No kid. I assure you. Maybe the economy was great for you but for millions of Americans, it was horrible. Show us all those steel and manufacturing plants in Ohio and Pennsylvania that re-opened. They didn't.

Trump “gave us a heck of an economy”...
On the back of a 1.2 trillion dollar deficit, and tax giveaway to corporations that used it to buy back their own stock and artificially drive up the stock market.
And on the back of a 50 billion dollar and counting bribe to farmers to make up for his idiotic, unilateral trade ‘showdown’ with China.
I’d look a lot richer too if I had a credit card with no limit that I never had any intention of paying back (well, I guess I could have my grandchildren pay it off—I’m sure they won’t mind).
Trump got lucky in the economy, and didn't do a damn thing to create it. He is too stupid to affect it intentionally !

i've never voted for a democrat and i'm 59. i dont really care about parties any more but i will not vote for the republican for the first time ever this year. there are more important things than policy. trump is going to cause a civil war by his get re-elected at all costs approach. there's a reason why college educated citizens vote against trump more than any other group outside african americans.

@bingo65 @chicolby @Todd P

You agree that trump is going to cause a “civil war.” Explain how and why it is Trump that is the cause. No smartass remarks or name-calling, but your best and most reasoned explanation.

it's not about fed spending dumbass, look at the JOB creation numbers. every job creates income for the individual and that creates tax dollars. every dollar will turn over at least 3 times and thus creating more tax dollars. with that established, an individual with a useful job creates a sense of self worth and hopefully will strive for more success and most do. those who choose to set around with their finger up their ass should just check out and head to a socialist country and reap their just reward. see ya

Pull back on that federal spending and see what happens dumbass.
As for the rest of your lecture on multipliers, you haven't told me anything I don't already know.

Call me stupid... I looked up BLS since I don’t know what that stands for... every site said Basic Life Support. That can’t be it. Biden Loves Shampoo? That makes more sense...

If I’m wrong, please set me straight on what BLS stands for.

everytime you type something you go on to prove who the dumbass is.
why not just say you're a socialist?
obama spent more in federal dollars than all other presidents in our countries history combined. granted alot of that had to do with over and excessive spending by the rest of the world. the thing is we had virtually nothing to show for it. socialism has exactly that tendency. platitudes and empty wornout promises that have been used over and over my entire life. just listen to stealin, lyin, demtia Joe's comercials. he has nothing new just the same old lie about tax the rich and give it away to the poor. just a political drama queen with dementia and a devout communist as his partner. good luck is these pukes win.

I have said before and will say again, pick any subject and let's agree on what's fair game to references and what isn't. That means if you shout at me "maxist" or call me a "libtard" without provocation and only because we disagree based on information you heard on Hannity, well then you can expect the conversation to devolve into yet another garbage conversation. But I'm all ears to an open, honest conversation about anything. That means, you want to talk about BLM, fine, let's talk. We'll use a framework for allowable information. We'll discuss the good, bad and ugly. We might disagree, but we we'll agree not to insult one another. I doubt we convince the other of our views, but we can at least have a conversation. What do you say?

Cap. You sound like a reasonable guy. We need more of these on the Penn State board.

And I could equally respond that the media is driving this narrative. He didn’t say he would refuse a peaceful transition of power. He said it depends, which is a smart way to do it. Think about it.

If he said “Yes, I will offer a peaceful transition of power,” and then there were some anomalies that showed up, the media would absolutely crucify him for going back on his word. This isn’t rocket science. He knows what the media will say about him. He’s covering his butt. Like anyone with a brain would do.
Funny how this narrative is being pushed. Especially considering the behavior of the losers of the last presidential lection who haven't been able to accept the results for 3 years and counting. Kinda Ironic if you ask me.

I consider myself a conservative Dem. Let this sink in. If you cut spending by very much, you WILL reduce GDP and employment. So much so that you will lose many more elections. Is that what you want?

BTW, I am not for mindless spending. I am for job producing spending, mostly for infrastructure. The tax cutting way has NOT reduced the cycle of poverty for many. I'll add I am NOT a tax the rich guy.

ok now we getting somewhere. infrastructure and fair trade are both keys in digging out of the hole we are in in our spending. major infrastructure spending promises major returns for decades to come.

Fair trade or free trade? I am against Trump's trade policies for the most part. Competition is better for ALL 300 + Americans. Not for the few million who may benefit from his trade policies. Competition keeps prices down (and quality up) so that me may spend on other products.

This one will probably piss you off. There is not one American alive today who is more critical of Federal spending on space exploration than I. I have heard all the arguments for it and they are all wrong. I wish I was in Congress to piss off America over this issue.
