I’m speculating the new receiver coach will demand blocking and running precise routes unlike the jr high coach we previously had
Harrison Phillips, Drew Ott, Noah Fant. You know, the ones who don't come to Nebraska.Do any Nebraska HS players pan out?
Seems the WRs are a different breed.Harrison Phillips, Drew Ott, Noah Fant. You know, the ones who don't come to Nebraska.

Xavier watts seems like a pretty decent player for NDFor the most part.. No
The question is, do any of these Nebraska kids work out for Nebraska.Xavier watts seems like a pretty decent player for ND
Sadly, the old days of playing for the pride of your home State with a bunch of other Nebraska boys seeking to do the same are over. Every team in America is now essentially a semi-pro group of free agents angling for more money. The entire vibe of college football has changed. You can lament that fact but it is the reality. We need these Nebraska guys to stay!!! Show that they should go all N! I totally get it that that is a tough ask, but home needs you...
I still feel that way. I won't shed any tears for Hall though. Some of those Omaha Metro kids do not have an in-state mentality. Heck, most of the good basketball talent won't even consider Nebraska. We need these Nebraska guys to stay!!! Show that they should go all N! Hall was one of those guys who got his 4 star rating early in his HS career based on early impressions and measurables. Then he did just enough to keep it, but as recruitment got serious he wasn't getting the attention that the true 4 star receivers get. I feel like Nebraska was like his fall back plan.Had high hopes for this one.
Turns out that you can take the kid out of Bellevue West, but you cannot take the Bellevue West out of the kid.
IMO, these players will always be recruited over by the staff when there is an opportunity to bring a kid in who’s essentially playing year round in a warm weather state with 7 on 7 teams. The question is, do any of these Nebraska kids work out for Nebraska.
Do not disagreeHall was one of those guys who got his 4 star rating early in his HS career based on early impressions and measurables. Then in his one year here, my impression is that there are other redshirt WRs who they liked more than him. Anyone disagree?
I’d argue that none of the good basketball talent considers the Huskers. As you know Creighton gets a few, almost everyone else goes out of state. Heck even UN Omaha has landed good in state talent.I still feel that way. I won't shed any tears for Hall though. Some of those Omaha Metro kids do not have an in-state mentality. Once they are no longer being hand-held by Huff...things change.Had high hopes for this one.

Jmo just like the football team the basketball coaches have bypassed Nebraska kids for years and for different reasons, I think Fred is trying to change that but it’s difficult with uno and creighton just like coach Rhule I give him credit for changing the instate recruiting culture but it doesn’t help when two top players don’t stay but you have to keep trying, now with roster limitations maybe all the recruits weather Nebraska or Florida will take it more seriously now a coach can go to the portal and replace them pretty easilyI’d argue that none of the good basketball talent considers the Huskers. One thing I heard on husker online was to eliminate red shirts altogether and go with 5 years of eligibility for all athletes.I’m not saying Hall was nudged to move on because I have zero inside knowledge of his situation.
However… I do think this is going to become a lot more common for freshmen to get a 1-2 year try out.
They now have a shorter window to flash your potential and see if you are worth investing a scholarship in.
If you aren’t showing you can be a player by then, that scholarship number is better used on a transfer who can.
The days of signing 25+ high schoolers, redshirting 20, and hoping they start by their Jr year are over. It is terrible for the kids’ development and for the sport, but under the current rules that’s probably the smartest way to do it.
Freshmen will need to go to FCS or lower tier FBS programs. I don’t think you’ll see many freshmen going to the Big Ten or SEC. 5 per team? Rest of recruiting will be transfersI’m not saying Hall was nudged to move on because I have zero inside knowledge of his situation.

Serious question...why stop at 5?One thing I heard on husker online was to eliminate red shirts altogether and go with 5 years of eligibility for all athletes.
Why not? That’s half a decade..Serious question...why stop at 5?
I saw him play several times. I was shocked he was a 4 star. A talented in- state prospect but I think Neb will be ok. My most disappointing portal losses are Emmit Johnson and Princewell. I think we will be just fine without Hall, Coleman or the others.Hall was one of those guys who got his 4 star rating early in his HS career based on early impressions and measurables. I can be a career student...can I also be a career student athlete? How about let’s make college football a career choice offering for student athletes?
The NCAA has said it is fine with 6 and 7 year seniors. Why is there a limit? Why not? That’s half a decade..
