Guy Thomas?

This late in the game? Thought we didn't allow that for our commits?
I think it's been his plan all along. I know Porcher said the thing about no Jan visits, but I don't think I've heard it anywhere else and I'm not sure I believe it. I guess we'll see.

I think he signs with Louisville or Maryland
He seemed to have a positive attitude about NU before the visit, if it was a good trip I think that he is N:

LINCOLN — Miami native Guy Thomas doesn’t know how far north he’s been in his life, but he knows he’s been nowhere near the Midwest.

That changes Friday when the Nebraska defensive end commit — perhaps the most mysterious and unknown of all the Husker commits — gets on a plane to take his official visit to Lincoln. He doesn’t know what he’ll see once he gets on campus.

“I’m not sure what to expect,” said Thomas, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound four-star prospect. “I’ve heard it’s nothing but cornfields, but that’s just what people tell you. They haven’t seen it, either.”

Thomas, who played his senior season at powerhouse Booker T. Washington High School, didn’t commit to Nebraska over the summer because of what he saw. He liked what he heard from defensive line coach John Parrella. He liked it a lot.

“He was very impressive,” Thomas said. “He told me he can teach me a lot about football and how to be a man.”

Sounds good to Thomas, who also appreciated hearing about Parrella’s philosophy and his college and NFL career. Thomas said Parrella’s passion for Nebraska has been evident in their conversations, as well.

So has Parrella’s consistency. When news broke Wednesday night about Nebraska defensive coordinator Mark Banker not getting his contract renewed, Thomas said he quickly received a call from Parrella to explain the situation.

Now, Thomas makes a key visit to campus. Nebraska needs his speed and athleticism in the class, even if it’ll take Thomas a year or two to put on weight for the Big Ten grind. Thomas said he had just six sacks this year — he wanted 15 — but the numbers were diminished in part because he often played defensive tackle. A 210-pound defensive tackle? Yep.

“I did it for the team,” Thomas said. “I’m not sure why I was playing tackle sometimes.”

At the next level, Thomas said, he wants to be an edge rusher — either at outside linebacker or defensive end.

“I feel like I can make plays in space because I have speed,” Thomas said.

As seen in this video posted by BigRedballz, apparently you can have different size players playing each of the positions along the LOS. Maybe this new D will work with our current players after all (if Diaco's D is similar to Wade's and he coaches each individual player the technique for his size and ability).

If the player is more athletic, he can play more outside vs straight up on the edge of the O-Lineman for instance.
