Why would Sam McKeon predict that Guy Thomas goes to Maryland on 247 sports just now? He's been committed to us for a WHILE. Anyone hear anything?

That sucks. Bad news day, two likely decommits, both positions of need. Hopefully we land some of these big fish we're in on late, but I doubt any of those skill guys will play TE or DL.

This doesn't bother me that much. He was a project guy that was going to be in the system for at least two years before he could contribute. Additionally, someone mentioned that this would be the guy that NU cut loose if they got it on two DT commits they liked better. So, we'll see.

We're not in a position to lose 4 star d ends, our d line was a huge concern coming into the season and did little to lessen it during the season, hope this isn't true.

My point above was that we need to hope or trust that by the time he was set to contribute, the DL depth has improved enough for it to be a non-factor.

"three-star Nebraska commit Guy Thomas saw the Maryland staff last week and set an official visit to College Park. Thomas is adamant that he will decommit in the near future and even told IMS “I’m not signing with Nebraska.”

"This is the guy I talked about a few weeks ago as being someone to keep an eye on. Arguably one of the top 5 guys in this class. Huge upside as a pass rusher. This will be a big loss."

We need pass rushers....I don't know why a Juco DE hasn't been heavily recruited all year.

Don't know how you can gloss this one over. Not big on hyperbole, but Von Miller started his college career about the same size as this guy. Could have been moved to OLB and worked up to DE if needed. Played good competition in Florida. This one stings.

He always was a strange "commit" given that he never visited campus. Did not look too happy taking a picture with Parrella a few weeks back either.

He is a four star recruit that you have tabbed a project? So you are saying others state if we get better DL recruits we would drop his offer? Amazing, we offer kids we know wont contribute for at least two years and to make it worse we play them along with a promise of a scholarhip only if someone better doesnt fall in our lap? Did I get that right?

This staff looses all integrity under such circumstances. Do people have some secret scouting notes?

He weighs 205 pounds. He was at a minimum a redshirt certainty.

Even though it sucks to see this and he hasn't visited NU, if he doesn't want to be here he doesn't want to be here. Keep going JP!

I really respect that guys info. I've read and heard some stuff that says the kid was one we were going to cut loose. If that's the case and it's in NU's end, then trust the staff. If not then it's time to move on.

JP probably has a plan. Just need to see what it is.

Just watching Maryland play a few games this year they are really bad cant see why a recruit would pick them over the Huskers, they have no football tradition at all and are going no where. Sure hope this is a case where Nebraska told him they were cutting ties with him.

The notion of moving a current commit outside and bringing in another DT is intriguing.

Tuco has indicated that there might be a chance of a three man front in our near future and I agree that the recruiting seems to agree with this.

Part of what Jp is selling shelvin might be the opportunity to be "the guy" at the nose in the immediate future

Maryland's football coach is DJ Durkin, formerly employed under Harbaugh. Must be at least a decent recruiter to gauge interest from Guy. Can't see why he would want to go to Maryland either though

One of the admins at huskermax threw out possible academics issue but I have no idea if that's the case

It is a concern, would not be shocked to ultimately see him at a non-P5 with easier entrance requirements...like a South Florida for example. Not saying that is where he goes, just as an example.

Wow, awful news. I never thought he'd stick but it's almost mid-December and its getting late in the process and JP just had an inhome with him... what the hell.happened here?

Has anyone on this D staff, other than Stewart, coached a 3-4?

Ummmm maybe JP told him on his visit face to face like men do, that he might want to find another school........just sayin. The kid never visited NU and as far as we know we never offered him an official visit.....

Feels to me that he has been told to look elsewhere, to not visit anywhere else all year since he committed seems a bit odd. Whatever he chooses best of luck to the young man. Would still like him here but if we have extra DT or 2 coming, bring it

This... I'm actually taking it as good news as some of these big fish may have told the staff they are N.

I would like to jump on this train, but other than Shelvin, I'm not sure who we are in on at the DL position to push Thomas out of the way. (We can take both Daniels and Shelvin and still keep Thomas).

JP visited Rivals100 DE Beal a short while ago, but its highly unlikely he's just up and flipping from UGA out of nowhere.
