And with all our struggles at LB he was playing DE.

I know he stood up and dropped in to coverage at times and we were also short on depth at DE but it would seem we would have been much better against the run with him at LBer and our Racoon killer playing DE instead.

He's killing it because of everything Kaz taught him, per Joe Keels' twitter...
"Kaz tech paid off for randy he killed drill work. Guess it was a method to the madness lol"

I think it is more along the lines of a 3-4 OLB, which is a glorified DE anyway. Can't inagine Gregory being projected as a 4-3 LB.

lol. It was very evident from his first day at NU that Gregory is a freakish athlete.

Gregory would have been a high first round draft choice if not for the misuse of the Pelini coaching staff. This kid belonged at OLB instead of trying to put a square peg in a round hole like they did. Gregory paid the ultimate price in dropping in the draft because he doesnt have the reps as a OLB the NFL will want. What a waste of supreme talent!

Isn't Randy forecast as a top ten, possibly top 5 draft pick? That's pretty high.

He probably could have played DE or OLB, especially strong-side OLB in a 4-3 alignment. His ideal position is probably a OLB in a 3-4 alignment.

While we finished the year short on linebackers, we spent the entire year short on defensive ends. We needed him where he played, and he was good as a DE.

Sounds like you've seen the future, can you share where Gregory was drafted? I had seen a great many mock drafts with Gregory going in the top 5...too bad that didn't happen. Also, do the Royals make the playoffs again this year?
