I attended the B-5 meet in Broken Bow and saw some great performances but 2 really stand out to me.
Ord is the 4th smallest team in Class B track and their girls relay teams are special. The 4x100 team has a top 10 time in Class B and unfortunately they dropped the baton on the last exchange. As heart breaking as it was for the girls 3 of the members ran the 4x400 in 3:59.22 to tie the Class B state record set in 1989 by Fairbury. Ord's time was electronic and Fairbury's was probably hand timed so Ord has the record in my opinion.
Paige Hervert of Kearney Catholic tore he ACL playing volleyball last October and won the high jump at 5-2. She is a 3 time Class C triple jump champion and won the long jump last year but is unable to compete in those events this year so she began high jumping just 4 meets ago. She also qualified in the 100 and barely missed qualifying in the 200.
