Great Assistant Hire

Was saying how awesome this guy was the one year he was here, which was our last national title.

Wasn't that year supposed to be a rebuilding year? Then this guy comes in and pushes us over the top to a national title. He might be one of the best developers in the game and would make a great head coach if Cook ever wanted to step down.

That's correct. Cook says so here.

Natty at 65 could change that tune though. Go out on top. We have a senior led team this year. Lexi and Lauren.

A natty next year is doable but will be really tough given that we were 0-3 against Wisconsin this year, and most of their talent is returning. I have to believe Cook is planning on stepping down within the next year or two, which is why Hildebrand came back with the assoc. head coach title - I wouldn't think he would want to wait in the wings for 5 years. This is the same approach Cook took in 1999 when he came from Wisconsin to serve as assoc HC under Pettit for one year.

most of you probably heard this, but, the story is a few recruits asked coach cook how long he would be around---reportedly, he stated he would be coach at least through their career. only thing is, not sure which year of recruits he allegedly told. 2020? 2021? 2022? never know---bringing in Tyler may smooth things over if coach cook decided to retire after 2-3 more years.

This is a Great knock it out of the ballpark move. Coach Hildebrand really improved our middle play when he was here. I was disappointed when he left after one year but totally understood why given his opportunity.

I think it's wonderful he's back and IMO there's a reason for his title. This will be a smooth transition whenever Coach Cook is ready.

Cook has promised the 2021 class that he will be their their entire Husker career. After that? who knows.

Hildebrand will likely be back here for a year or two more, and then go to run his own program for a couple years. At which point Cook will have a major decision to make between Tamas, Hildebrand and Bussboom-Kelly.

It also isn't out of the realm of possibility that Hildebrand stays here for 3-4 years as an assistant, takes over Nebraska beach Volleyball, Starts up a new Men's Volleyball program at Nebraska and also continues to work with team USA and then Cook hires Dani as a successor. If starting a men's program is something he wants to do.

Our athletic department isn't going to add a new Men's program with Title IX, and Frost wanting as many walk-ons as possible. We would have to add another women's program, like lacrosse.

Actually the thought is they would likely add women's field hockey to be played at the new soccer complex as it is a fairly low cost sport with a fairly high gpa talent pool.

What little bit I know, either lacrosse or field hockey would be able to be played on a soccer field.

Difference is women's lacrosse is played in the spring with field hockey in the fall which would butt heads with soccer scheduling wise. Maybe not a big deal. Other option would be build another stadium for field hockey/lacrosse
