Unlike CU, Rhule doesn't really have any "dudes" out there yet. So we'll have to get better the long way it seems right now However, some kids here have done nothing but lose, so that is so ingrained in them that pooping with the game on the line is only a question of when. Gotta graduate the few seniors we have and move with whoever is brought in. Seems like there's something to recruiting kids that come from winning programs.

TCU was not good on defense, but it looks like CU have three dudes on O, and one lock down corner who is also one of the offensive dudes. Our D looks way better than theirs, but our offense is one dimensional.

We have to play CU this week and their O looked good. I was disappointed in how we lost to MN. I thought that game was a tossup going in and we would beat CU for sure. Now I have my doubts. I'm not going to compare Deion to Rhule. Deion may beat us and have a better year than Rhule. There is nothing we can do about what Deion is doing. We just need to keep getting better ourselves. We may start out 0-2 but we need to get to 2-2 and hopefully win at least 6.

Their offense also one dimensional. They were unable to establish any sort of run game against TCU. TCU had four sacks and seven tackles for loss. Colorado had 55yards rushing on 35 attempts.

Northern Illinois won at Boston college. No sure wins on the schedule. We turn the ball over 4 times every game and it could be an 0-for season.

I think people are reading too much into game one. Most schools wisely schedule a non-P5 opponent to give them an easy win and work out the wrinkles in a game. The first few games of every season tend to be sloppy no matter what and who is involved. TCU had some of the best players they ever had last season (led by Duggan) and that team was still beaten by KSU and then abused by Georgia to close out the season (the upset of Michigan was just that). Thinking they are going to be that team again this season is just ridiculous.
Don't be surprised if these game one performances are not indicative of any of these teams by November. Teams may bench starting QBs, younger players may get starts, etc.

Sims will run with ease all game long vs CU.

He will have video game numbers and Sanders is not sniffy 500 yards passing.

The down 3 for NU will shut down any running game up the middle.
What is the buffs get up by 2 scores? They’re going to throw it often and deep to the five star receiver. They are inviting us to their track meet.

Will feel a lot better about Rhule if he can find a way to pull this one out.

You mean the 5 star DB?
Let them throw it.

Let’s be real, being one dimensional doesn’t really matter if that one dimension puts out over 500 yards and several TDs.

Sure it matters. When Nebraska as winning tons of games against Big 8 opponents, then losing games when they played in bowl games against teams with bigger and better athletes, their inability to throw the ball efficiently became an issue when opponents were able to shut down the run. They were putting 400 plus yards on the ground.

As I mentioned, perhaps in this thread maybe another, it’s hard to keep track when basically every thread is the same, Colorado could be very much like the 1990s Houston Cougars throwing the ball all over. Or Mike Leach’s Texas tech or Washington st teams. Or Hal Mumme’s Kentucky teams. All had the ability to put up tons of yards and points until they ran into a team that would eat clock and shorten the game. None of those teams ever won a league title and they all had subpar defenses. But they sure could throw for a bunch of yards.

This. We will need to have both a passing game and a running game against CU. We are not good enough to just line up and mow people over in the run game. Sims had better be able to throw the ball downfield without tossing up interceptions. Otherwise this could be a long game. Rhule is not going to just toss out his playbook and run a one dimensional offense because of what happened last week. He is going to try and work with Sims to read defenses better. This game will tell us a lot more about how the rest of our season will go.

When a team can’t pass you load the box up so much they can’t run either. Dual QB = can’t pass. It’s time to start recruiting passing QB

If the QB is a statue, yes.

If the QB can run and you load the box, it takes one missed tackle for a TD, because you are more than likely playing man behind that loaded box.

I would gladly take a loaded box and man coverage. Which basically means 50/50 balls and less chance at picks.
