Got my vaccination today....

By the way, I’ve read that there are a number of people who aren’t returning for their second dose. I wonder what that’s all about. I’m sure it has something to do with Biden and the Democrats though

By the way, We are all only safe once 70% or whatever get vaccinated. All you selfish bastards who won’t get vaccinated (pregnant women and those with cancer or certain other conditions/allergies excepted) are putting the five percent the vaccine doesn’t protect at risk. That could be your own family member. Think of that when your chance comes.
Fear. Irrational thought. Villainization. Compliance.

This whole thing has worked pretty well apparently.

Got my second dose last night. No issues. A little soreness in shoulder today, not much though. Flu shot last fall was much worse. Vaccine hit my wife hard today, however. She said she felt like she got hit by a bus. Ran a fever of about 100 most of the day. Went down a little while ago. One week and I am immmmuuuuuunnnne! well 95% sure of that anyway. my parents in their mid 80s had their second dose 10 days ago. They had zero side effects. They already have three trips planned for this spring. They are very pleased. I hope all the seniors who have been cooped up for a year get theirs soon.
Actually it's pretty much 100% against getting severe Covid that would require hospitalization. The other 5% can still get mild cases.

I agree it's selfish not to get vaccinated but apparently people don't understand that the 5% who have been vaccinated and still get Covid only get mild cases and do not wind up in a hospital on a ventilator. That's significant protection for 100% of those vaccinated.

@spartanhusker which vaccine did you get? I got my first dose of the Moderna this past Saturday. I also didn't feel the needle, although I had some soreness in the arm they put the shot in on Saturday afternoon and Sunday. No other side effects. Still not feeling the urge to head over to Brokeback mountain even though the Iranians indicate that is also a side effect.
Takes the second dose and a couple weeks for you to truly crave the c@ck. Right now you probably just notice fashion a little more, and have a strange desire to watch musicals.

I'm guessing a bunch of them don't want to go through the side affects again. My wife was sicker with the second shot than I think she was when she had covid. @spartanhusker how's the arm today?

I have my second Pfizer shot set for next Friday. The VA in Omaha has essentially has walk in appointments for DD214 holders. I did have to schedule an appointment but I set it for two days later at the same time as my 80 year old father.

Also, wonder what happens to my brother and his husband if they get the shot? Hmmm.

The question that needs a definitive answer is this: Does being vaccinated prevent you from transmitting the disease? The answer is no one knows. Please stop patting yourselves on the back. Maybe we'll find out you're all a bunch of silent super spreaders. We know most of you are motivated by the ability to go on vacation. So noble.

Talked to critical care nurse and she said there isn’t enough and very little data with women from the ages 18-34 how this will effect getting pregnant...

I know we need to take this shot if we’re elderly but there hasn’t been enough testing how this will effect us down the road...

She said Johnson and Johnson have had the most data on their vaccine..

It defies logic to say that a vaccinated person can propagate the virus and spread it at a level that can infect others under normal circumstances. Unless you're going to lick someone's snot and then turn around and French kiss someone, you aren't going to spread it. "We don't know" is an excuse to keep people in fear.

They died from the first dose

It's ironic that a nurse with some degree of medical knowledge would be more worried about getting vaccinated by a totally killed vaccine versus getting a live wild virus. Extremely illogical thinking.

Just the opposite. The ones living in fear are hiding in their basements and hoping for a white knight in the form of a syringe to save I've said it before. Covid is just a new version of the flu, albeit more transmissable. It's not more deadly than past flus. The vast majority of people ward it off with no problem and that increases herd immunity. A resilient people should not trust the lying medical technocrats who are destroying modern society with their fear porn propaganda. Big picture, the Covid-1984 is an effective rational to lock us down and stifle freedom at every opportunity. You can't deny our constitutional freedoms are not under unprecedented attack. We're getting accustomed to a new normal. It's BS.

The fact that she previously had COVID is the issue. I think I read yesterday that Spain is recommending that if you've already had COVID you should wait at least 6 months before you get vaccinated. Previous exposure to the virus leads that second dose to cause you to have a much more pronounced immune response. IF I had already had COVID I sure as hell would wait for a while to get vaccinated.

There are several healthy 20 yos in my neighborhood that have got vaccinated. They just went to the 80+ clinic at the end of day and waited around. After several days, there were remaining doses that would get thrown out if not used and they were able to get vs it being wasted. Am glad it didnt go to waste but sure pissed off some in our neighborhood not understanding the perishable nature of it. Am just glad my dad and in-laws have received it and expect to get it this summer

That's what I've been saying all along, they should have a waiting room of anybody that wants to get vaccinated for unused doses at the end of the day. First come, first serve in the waiting room.

IF you've already had Covid you should also step aside for the moment and let others who haven't had Covid get vaccinated before you.

yes i'm sure thats it. the medical community wants to keep people in fear. its so obvious.. LOL

have you taken off your tactical gear yet after returning from your morning scout of the neighborhood?

6000 no-shows in Nebraska for their second dose? And most of them are health care workers.
Seems really weird to me.
Well I sure hope they didn't waste the vaccine designated for the no shows. As I said earlier in the posts, they need to have waiting rooms for volunteers from ANY priority group who want the vaccine at the end of the day to use up the doses designated for inconsiderate no shows. It's a tragedy if the vaccine got thrown out.

I thought it’s 3 months in the states if you already had Covid to get the shots?

I wondered about that...but I had it 8 months ago, and am in the 2nd phase age dynamic so I got it...hope that was not selfish...

okay. That took me a day to have that one sink in. Good one. lol

I don't know. I would have to ask the wife. Personally I wouldn't get vaccinated for maybe a year if I had already had COVID. JMO not based on any scientific evidence.

Well, we are a year into this and there isn't much evidence that anybody has gotten sick from the virus twice, so it seems pretty obvious that antibodies last for at least a year. It'd be easier to know if people weren't distancing and wearing masks, but we are where we are.

Actually there are a few cases out there and my spouse says there will be more documented as time goes on. When you're talking about 10s of millions of people getting infected with a virus of this nature the odds are that a few percent of them aren't going to build protective immunity. My money would be that most of them are vegans that it happens to.;)

There were two separate studies published about 2 weeks ago, one was specifically on healthcare workers, that showed that those who had Covid had ten times more antibodies after their first dose of the vaccine than those who did not get Covid and already had both doses.

I’m not sure of the other vaccines, but I know Moderna shows 80% effectiveness after the first dose. Number 2 takes you to 95%. So the thought process of some in the medical community is if you’ve had Covid and get the first dose, your antibody level is actually higher than those who only get the vaccine, so save that second dose for someone else. The idea being we could vaccinate faster, the prevailing thought being some immunity is better than no immunity. The idea is to reach herd immunity fast as possible.

I'm just another idiot posting on a message board, but I'm smart enough to know that it's highly unlikely for someone to become ill from a respiratory virus more than once a year. Maybe someone that is immunosuppresed could, but the other 99.99% of the world are not likely to get sick from the flu, rsv, or a cold to the point where it matters within a year.

Some of that depends on how much antigenic drift takes place during that year. I still get extremely pissed when I hear "scientists" that contend that this virus was a natural occurrence. There is virtually no chance that this was a random mutation occurring in nature that jumped from bats to become so wildly virulent for humans. Virtually none. There's a reason the Chinese stonewalled investigators who wanted to look at that lab. Dirty bastards.

The worst thing we can do going forward once we reach some sort of herd immunity is to continue to wear masks and isolate people. We need to keep this damned thing circulating IMO so that as it mutates the "herd" continually develops immunity to the new strains. Meanwhile I think they'll likely have to continue to develop new vaccines it appears to more closely match new mutations. F'n China.

I have did zero research on it but I wonder how sick many of them were that tested positive twice. If they were not sick or barely sick the first time it makes you wonder with how many false positives there has been.

I have those same questions. We'll probably never know. The first tests the CDC came out with were horrible. The CDC really dirtied the sheets on this deal and yet Fauci continues to get a pass. He should have been forced to retire long ago. He's been very irresponsible on some of his pronouncements on talk shows.
