Wow, brutal. You might want to look at upgrading the insulation and window's for your house. Seems like a lot of outside air leakage into the house when your furnace can't keep up.North central Illinois. Actually had to drive my mom an hour or so south for a cardiac catheterization today, still at the hospital. Wife is at home with our son, our furnace is trying its darndest to keep up with the temperatures, but it's already down to the mid 60s and it's set at 72.
Thankfully, winds are starting to die down so windchill might not be quite as bad as predicted.

I'd do the insulation first. Usually you don't make your money back on window upgrades. If you replaced them yourself they're like $150 a window but professionally done or custom they can be up around $400 a window. Takes a long time to cut your heat bill by $400.Oh, absolutely. It's a 90 year old brick house and still has the original plaster and lathe, so I know the insulation is lacking. Windows and doors are our next priority project.
72 sitting in my den which smells of rich Mahogany....er maybe that's something I dropped under my desk. May be moldy cheese.70 in SoCal.
