In the final analysis, the AD had to evaluate the state of Nebraska football, and Miami needs to be competitive in the games that matter.

Eichorst lives and dies with this hire. He isn't getting a second chance if Riley fails. This isn't directed at you, but I thought Miami would own the BIG west. They would be lucky to finish 5th in the west.

Yep, locked him up for 9 years after a 6-6 season. Wouldn't surprise me if he gives Riley an extension after this year too.
Riley will get a 1 year extension after a favorable job review at the end of the year.

Miami sits in a hot bed of players with speed and skill. Maybe per capita the best in the nation. The support from fans, alumni and financial support is below top 10 in the country. I was being kind. Miami will get a top head coach or at least one who is a top upcoming rising star. More than half your squad from the Miami/Dade county area would make you a top 25 team. Just put in the time and effort in recruiting and the recruiting results will happen. The other part is coaching and development. That is the tricky part for Miami. This is the part Miami has to get right this time. Or else.

Logically it has come to a conclusion. The question is what do the big boys do to rectify this mess?
I have heard a lot of Chudzinki and Fuente chatter already. I think the fans (both of them) want to bring back Butch.
A lot of fans see it that way, for sure. Whether the Wizard hangs it up or not is totally unclear though. I mean, hell, he's only 76.
And to be clear, it's totally unfair to judge him on this year, or for he to judge himself, as injuries have totally decapitated the program.
This has been said by just about everyone forever and ever and ever.
The truth is that outside of very brief stretches (1983-94, 2000-03), they have been just another mediocre program. Their facilities and fan support are a joke, and the expectations there are ridiculously out of proportion. No up-and-comer with an ounce of intelligence would touch that job with a 10 foot pole.
