Glen Frey passes away at the age of 67

I just heard this. I was like, "NO WAY." Turns out to be true. Great band with The Eagles and great as a solo artist. Looks like a tequila sunrise starin' slowly 'cross the sky, said goodbye. Bye Glenn.

Listening at the moment to a live bootleg from Berkeley in 1973. I have a (peaceful easy) feeling that I will be listening to a lot of Glen Frey and the Eagles tonight.

I think we all have the Smuggler's Blues today.

Death has been somewhat a prevalent conversation for me today. A friend at work who I got hired with will likely in next few hours, if it hasn't already happened, will lose his brother-in-law at like 55. We are both on the downside to 50. Talked about the 30 for 30 "Survive and Advance." In it I think the guy who made the show talked about that team all meeting at around the age of 50 where "you can see both ends of your life with increasing clairity." Boy I'm starting to see both ends pretty damn clear right now.
For those of you in your 20s, I heard people say life goes fast. Thought that was BS. Well....no BS, it does.

I distinctly remember hearing Eagles songs on the radio as a 3-4 year old. A long time ago, but doesn't seem possible.

Huge loss for the music world. The Eagles are iconic!

Just saw this. Shocking. 67 to me (I'm 53) is relatively young. I really like the Eagles. If you listen to today's country music it sounds much like what the Eagles where playing back in the '70's. At least it does to me. Damn, first Bowie now Frey. May they rest in peace.

I wonder who's next. Famous people usually die in groups of three.

Well, Alan Rickman died on Friday as well... Famous, yes... Singer, no. Does this count?

Hopefully it does, and we don't have to see another death thread...

It Is With The Heaviest of Hearts That We Announce…

...the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016.

Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery.

Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.

“It's Your World Now”
Written by Glenn Frey and Jack Tempchin
From the Eagles’ Long Road Out of Eden album

A perfect day, the sun is sinkin' low
As evening falls, the gentle breezes blow
The time we shared went by so fast
Just like a dream, we knew it couldn't last
But I'd do it all again
If I could, somehow
But I must be leavin' soon
It's your world now

It's your world now
My race is run
I'm moving on
Like the setting sun
No sad goodbyes
No tears allowed
You'll be alright
It's your world now

Even when we are apart
You'll always be in my heart
When dark clouds appear in the sky
Remember true love never dies

But first a kiss, one glass of wine
Just one more dance while there's still time
My one last wish: someday, you'll see
How hard I tried and how much you meant to me

It's your world now
Use well your time
Be part of something good
Leave something good behind
The curtain falls
I take my bow
That's how it's meant to be
It's your world now
It's your world now
It's your world now

Yeah, I should have broke it down to music genre.

Bummer man. Too young. RIP. He always seemed like the nicest guy of the group, but who knows.

I guess the one upside of this is that the Eagles can no longer gouge people for hundreds of dollars per ticket. That was f'ing ridiculous.

I know..fairly insensitive on my part. I like the Eagles pretty well, but they aren't in my Top 10 list or anything. Actually, other than "Boys of Summer," I thought both Frey and Henley's solo stuff was very ordinary to bad.

I just don't like bands that take advantage of their fans by gouging them for horrendously high ticket prices. Buying their albums isn't enough...they gotta fleece their fans for a couple hundred bucks for tickets to see too?

This is where someone chimes in with "Hey, if people are willing to pay the prices, so be it." But I disagree. Just because they can, doesn't mean they should.
