Get ready to shock the world

Just wondering if we would still want Frost if he loses today. Will have gotten outcoached, etc. Isn't that the line of thinking?

I don't think he's going to lose today. Obviously anything can happen but Navy has been playing keep up all game long..

We have been living in a fantasy world for the last 15 years waiting for The Savior. Saint Scott is just the latest.
Devaney and Osborne were stratosphere coaches, it’s not surprising that Nebraska leveled off to where it is now. It will take those kind of coaches to bring them back to that level. Sadly, that coach may never show up in Lincoln for a long time.

Nebraska will get routed by Penn State. PSU will likely have to punt in the game, but it will still be a laugher.

NU will have a shot to win the other 4 games. Unfortunately, we have seen NU play 4 decent quarters in 1 out of 7 games so far this year. NU shows every indication of being a poor football team. That means they will struggle to win 3 more games this year.

UCF was 9-4, 10-1, 10-4 the 3 seasons prior to 0-12, so they weren’t without talent.

QUOTE="OneBadHuskerFan, post: 3816837, member: 16282"]Not only did UCF win today, but they handed a 5-1 Navy team their first home loss in over 3 years. Pretty damn impressive to me.[/QUOTE]

One of many delusional posts. Watching Penn State now, they’ll also steamroll us. We will be lucky to finish with a winning record. Is this really what we want? How about trying to inject a little toughness back into the program, if not with Frost, then whomever. I wouldn’t mind losing a few if we gave a fight, and showed some improvement.

Just watch a UCF game and tell me if you've seen N look anywhere close to that. Frosts team knows who they are and believe in what they are doing. It's not sloppy and looks fluid across the board. N hasn't looked fluid since the Crouch Era.

THIS.

Wow, OP. What are you smoking? We might not win another game the rest of the year with MR as our coach. He looks defeated before he takes the field every game.

NU will run the table and finish 8-4, thereby saving Riley’s job and causing the Scott Frost Fan Club to have one gigantic group stroke.
It is kind of like this. We will not run the table. We will continue to be embarrassed in most of the remaining games. Frost will not be the head coach. The new head coach will be a head scratcher. Save this and refer to it in early December. When everyone is saying, "what"? You can look back and say "someone saw it coming. I should have listened." By doing this, you will have a "heads up". Here is your heads up. Run the table ? Come on. Frost? Not going to happen. How do I know this ? ( about winning out) Look at the team so far. Self-explanatory. The Frost thing? ..I'm not talking. Let's just call it a "hunch". A strong "hunch". He will not come here and quite frankly, I can't blame him.

Oh c'mon.....how many depressing pills do you slam down daily? Cheer up mate. After Clownahan & MR NU deserves a break.

I could see us beating Purdue, Northwestern, and Minnesota before getting destroyed by Penn St and beaten by Iowa.

That would make us 6-6 and eligible for a bowl game.

Moos would have a somewhat easy decision with the regular season ending in consecutive losses as the fans would be clammering for it at that point.

The remaining Riley loyalists will feel he finished a bad season in a decent manner by going .500 and say give him more time.

Would Nebraska accept the bowl invite? Probably so. I can't see our athletic department saying no to a bowl game like another program has in the past.

Diaco would probably be the interim coach in that scenario as Langs would have been fired along with Riley :)

To me, 7-6 would be an amazing finish to this dreadful season.

6-6 would be high hopes at this point.

5-7 would seem like the most likely reasonable hope-filled finish. Would Nebraska accept a bowl game again? I can see Jason Peter literally blowing up if that happened.

If he finishes 4-1, he likely saves his job. And look at the 4 teams he will have to beat:

- Purdue, a team with a losing record that just lost to Rutgers. Even if the Boilermakers beat Nebraska, they will still likely miss bowl eligibility. If you're Mike Riley, you can't lose to Purdue twice in 3 years. And you certainly can't lose to a team staring at a losing record.

- Northwestern, with the OT win over Iowa really helped their bowl game prospects. If they beat the Huskers, they probably win 7 games. Regardless, If you're Mike Riley, you can't lose your 2nd home game to Northwestern in 3 years, and you definitely can't lose to a marginal, barely above .500 NW team.

- Minnesota is terrible. They are NOT going bowling, even if they beat Nebraska. They played the worst non con schedule of any Big Ten team, and have been awful ever since the start of league play. if you're Mike Riley, you can't go into Minnesota and lose to a team without a winning record in year 3.

- Penn State is Penn State. Only chance Nebraska has in that game is if it's a raging snowstorm, nobody can muster any offense or footing leading to the Nittany Lions fumbling 11 times.

- Iowa is better than Nebraska, but their schedule is about get real. They will likely be 6-5 by the time they roll into Lincoln. That game will mark the 38th coached game by Mike Riley at Nebraska. When you coach at Nebraska, there is no way in hell you should be losing to a barely .500 Iowa team, at home, by the end of year 3.

If he can't beat these 4 shitty teams in the last half of year 3, he definitely doesn't deserve a job at Nebraska.
