Georgia NIL law....University gets most of $$

do you consider your salary + benefits a 'gift', as well?

these athletes aren't given anything. it's earned.
Not really. The walkons get nothing. Do they not "earn" it?

This is all nonsense. All students have to pay for college unless they're on an academic scholarship. Some pay for it with loans that they work to pay off later. Some work during college, some have parents who work to pay. Some play sports to pay for college. Every student is the same in that regard and none of them deserved anything on top of that unless they all get it.

If a kid is good enough to be a pro athlete, then he/she also gets coaching, training, and development that leads to their pro career. This all gets resolved if they just take the restrictions off of when someone can go pro.

In an amateur setting, letting some players make money while in college from their image is divisive to the team and unfair to all of the other players who provide a platform for that "star" player to get paid. It also creates a recruiting nightmare in that the schools in big media markets will surely be able to get better deals for their players than say Manhattan Kansas or Lincoln Nebraska.

Let them pay back the value of the scholarship I say.

Quarter million gift for one's future should be appreciated, not scorned.

My take from Alaska.

College students seem to like socialism so sharing the money should be fine with them.
