Nebraska continues its season-opening homestand at Memorial Stadium when the Huskers play host to the Wyoming Cowboys. Game time is set for 11 a.m. (CT) with the contest televised nationally on ESPN2.

Nebraska is coming off a solid opening to the 2016 season following a 43-10 victory over Fresno State on Saturday night in Lincoln. Nebraska led by just four points at halftime, but broke the game open with 29 unanswered points in the second half. The Huskers showed a powerful rushing attack in the opening-game victory, racking up 292 yards on the ground and averaging nearly six yards per carry. Nebraska also played turnover-free football in the game, did not allow a sack, and limited the Bulldogs to just 31 rushing yards.

Wyoming opened with a 40-34 triple overtime victory over Northern Illinois in Laramie, in a game that lasted well into Sunday morning. The Cowboys featured a balanced attack in the win, rushing for 243 yards, while passing for 245 yards. Wyoming is coached by Craig Bohl who is in his third season at the helm of the program. Bohl played at Nebraska in the late 1970s and was a Husker assistant coach from 1995 to 2002.

The matchup with Wyoming completes a three-game series between the two schools.

Husker-Wyoming Ties
The Nebraska and Wyoming football programs share more than just a common border.

- Hall of Fame Nebraska Head Coach Bob Devaney joined the Huskers in 1962 after six highly successful seasons as the Cowboys' head coach from 1956 to 1961

- Devaney posted a 35-10-5 record at Wyoming, before guiding NU to a 101-20-2 record in 11 seasons, including national championships in 1970 and 1971.

- Current Wyoming Head Coach Craig Bohl both played and coached at Nebraska. Bohl was on the Husker roster as a defensive back from 1977 to 1979. He coached for eight seasons on the Nebraska staff from 1995 to 2002, including his final three seasons as defensive coordinator.

Bohl Joins List of Former Players, Coaches to Face NU
Craig Bohl will join a short list of former Husker players and coaches to matchup with Nebraska as an opposing head coach.

- Bohl is just the third former Husker player since 1950 to serve as a head coach in a matchup against Nebraska. Turner Gill was Kansas' head coach in a 2010 matchup with the Huskers, while Warren Powers guided both Washington State and Missouri against Nebraska

Josh Allen eluded three would-be tacklers on a wild touchdown scramble from seven yards out in the third overtime to lift Wyoming to a 40-34 win over Northern Illinois in a game that began nearly two hours late due to thunderstorms. Brian Hill rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the win. The junior, who was the eighth leading rusher in the FBS last year, went over the 100-yard mark for the 12th time in his career. The Huskies completed a 77-yard drive by connecting on a 19-yard touchdown pass with 1:13 left in regulation to tie the game at 27-27. Wyoming freshman kicker Cooper Rothe missed a 48-yard field goal attempt at the end of regulation that could have won it, and also a 37-yarder in the first overtime. Wyoming totaled 488 yards in the game (243 rush, 245 pass) and allowed 462 yards to Northern Illinois (133 rush, 329 pass). The Cowboys committed no turnovers in the game and forced one by the Huskies. Wyoming QB Josh Allen was 19-of-29 for 245 yards with 2 TDs and also rushed 10 times for 70 yards and a TD. Brian Hill rushed 33 times for 125 yards and two scores. Wyoming had a pair of 100-yard receivers in Jake Maulhardt (5 rec, 106 yards) and Tanner Gentry (8 rec, 104 yards, 1 TD). NIU was led by Drew Hare who was 24-of-39 for 329 yards and 3 TDs. Kenny Golladay was the leading Husky runner with six carries for 82 yards and a TD and was also the leading receiver with 10 catches for 144 yards and two scores.

Ameer Abdullah and Imani Cross each rushed for 100 yards and Taylor Martinez passed for three touchdowns as 18th-ranked Nebraska survived two late turnovers to defeat Wyoming 37-34 Saturday night at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. The Cornhuskers, who won their nation-leading 28th straight season opener, scored on four of five possessions after trailing 14-10 early in the second quarter, and then had to hang on as Wyoming made it a game to the end. The Cowboys converted two late Nebraska turnovers into touchdowns to pull within 37-34 with 1:32 left. Nebraska recovered the onside kick, but the Wyoming defense held and the Cowboys got the ball back with 1:07 to play, but time ran out on them before they could get to even midfield. Wyoming put up gaudy numbers against the Huskers, gaining 602 yards of total offense (219 rush, 383 pass). The Huskers totaled 530 yards themselves (375 rush, 155 pass). Both teams committed two turnovers in the game. Individually for Nebraska, Taylor Martinez was 17-of-22 for 155 yards with 3 TDs and 1 INT in the win while also rushing 16 times for 80 yards. Ameer Abdullah had 13 carries for 114 yards and Imani Cross added 13 carries for 105 yards and two scores. Terrell Newby also rushed 15 times in the game for 76 yards. Kenny Bell led the Husker receivers with seven catches for 57 yards. Jamal Turner added four catches for 43 yards and a score and Quincy Enunwa totaled three receptions for 27 yards and two TDs. Stanley Jean-Baptiste and Ciante Evans both came up with interceptions for the Husker defense. For Wyoming, Brett Smith was 29-of-43 for 383 yards with 4 TDs and 1 INT. Shaun Wick had 12 carries for 101 yards and a TD, while Smith also rushed for 92 yards on eight carries. The leading Cowboy receiver was Dom Rufran with 11 catches for 120 yards. Robert Herron (4 rec, 91 yards, 1 TD), Jalen Claiborne (7 rec, 88 yards, 2 TD) and Brandon Miller (5 rec, 63 yards, 1 TD) also helped to keep the game close.
