Nebraska will complete its 2016 regular season with its traditional Black Friday game at Iowa, as the Huskers and Hawkeyes will battle for the HyVee Heroes Trophy at Kinnick Stadium. Game time for the matchup between the Big Ten West Division rivals is set for 2:30 p.m. CT with the game televised nationally on ABC.
Nebraska enters the game with a 9-2 overall record and a 6-2 mark in Big Ten play following a 28-7 win over Maryland on Saturday in Lincoln. The Husker defense stalled Maryland's strong run game, limiting the Terrapins to just 11 yards on the ground. The win kept Nebraska in the thick of the Big Ten West Division race. The Huskers enter the final weekend needing a victory at Iowa and a Wisconsin loss to Minnesota in order to advance to the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis.
The Huskers will be looking to keep the road success going in the Nebraska-Iowa series. Each of the last four matchups between the Huskers and Hawkeyes have been won by the visiting team, including hard-fought Nebraska victories in Iowa City in 2012 and 2014.
Iowa comes into the contest with a 7-4 record, including a 5-3 mark in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes have won their past two games, knocking off then-No. 2 Michigan in Iowa City two weeks ago, before winning 28-0 at Illinois on Saturday.
Iowa is once again winning with a strong defense and a solid running game. The Hawkeyes allow just 18.6 points per game and 365.2 yards of total offense. On the ground, Iowa averages more than 160 yards per game and has rushed for at least 200 yards three times, including 262 yards at Illinois.
Series History
This will be the 47th meeting all-time between Nebraska and Iowa in football with the Huskers leading the series 29-14-3. The Huskers are 10-6 all-time in games played in Iowa City and since joining the Big Ten, the Huskers lead the series with the Hawkeyes as Big Ten opponents 3-2. The visiting team has won each of the last four meetings, and Nebraska's win in Lincoln in the 2011 season is the only time the home team has won this contest since Nebraska joined the Big Ten. The four-game road team win streak is the longest in a Nebraska conference series since the visiting team won six straight in the Nebraska vs. Missouri series from 1974 through 1979.

Nebraska Continues Long Black Friday Tradition
Nebraska will continue its long-standing tradition of playing on Black Friday. This Friday's game with Iowa will mark the 27th consecutive season the Huskers have played on the day after Thanksgiving.
NU met Oklahoma in the final six seasons of the Big Eight Conference (1990 to 1995), then played Colorado in all 15 of the Huskers' Big 12 Conference years (1996 to 2010) before taking on Iowa each of the past six seasons. Nebraska and Iowa are scheduled to conclude the season against each other on the day after Thanksgiving until at least 2019.
Nebraska owns a 19-7 record since 1990 in Black Friday games, including a 5-1 record against Oklahoma, an 11-4 mark against Colorado and a 3-2 record against Iowa. Nebraska is 8-3 on the road in Black Friday games since 1990, including a 2-0 at Iowa City.
Nebraska's post-Thanksgiving game has been televised nationally by ABC each year since 1991 (26 games).
In addition to the past five years, Nebraska and Iowa also closed out the regular season against each other nine times from 1892 to 1916.
10
A victory on Friday in Iowa City would give Nebraska a 10-win season for the first time since 2012 and the 28th 10-win season in school history. Nebraska secured its 50th nine-win season with last week's win over Maryland.

The Hawkeyes struggled to a 7-0 halftime lead on the road in Champaign before turning the game over to LeShun Daniels and the Hawkeye defense on the way to a 28-0 victory over the Illini. The shutout was the first for Iowa since a win over Ball State in 2010. Illinois struggled to move the ball, ending with just 198 yards of total offense, had as many first downs --10-- as punts and never advanced inside the Iowa 30-yard line. Cold, windy conditions certainly did not help the Illini either try to move the ball on a stingy Iowa defense. The wind was such a factor that Iowa chose the wind instead of the ball to open each half. The only score of the first half came late in the half when Iowa receiver Riley McCarron returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown. Iowa quarterback C.J. Beathard was held to under 100 yards throwing in the game, but for the fourth time in his career, Iowa has won all four of those times (vs. Wisconsin and Nebraska in 2015, and vs. Michigan and Illinois in 2016). Iowa outgained Illinois in total offense 342 yards (80 pass, 262 rush) to 198 yards (137 pass, 61 rush). Both teams committed two turnovers in the contest. Beathard finished the game going 9-of-17 for 80 yards with an INT. LeShun Daniels rushed 26 times for 159 yards and two TDs while Akrum Wadley added 13 carries for 82 yards and a score. The leading receiver was Jerminic Smith with two receptions for 33 yards. Tight end Noah Fant added three catches for 25 yards in the win. For Illinois, Wes Lunt was 19-of-41 for 137 yards with an INT. Kendrick Foster was the leading rusher with 16 carries for 50 yards and Zach Grant was the top Illini pass catcher with eight receptions for 65 yards.
Last Year: Iowa 28, Nebraska 20 (Nov. 27, 2015)
Iowa did not accomplish much on offense, and were outgained by Nebraska, but the Hawkeyes took advantage of several Nebraska mistakes en route to a 28-20 win in Lincoln and celebrated the school's first perfect regular season in 93 years. Jordan Canzeri broke free on two long touchdown runs on back-to-back series in the third quarter on a cold, blustery day in Lincoln. The Hawkeyes generated only 250 total yards of offense, were limited to 44 plays and were 0-for-9 on third downs, but Nebraska's Tommy Armstrong threw four interceptions, with one being returned for a touchdown, and the Huskers committed eight penalties, including four big personal foul penalties. Nebraska outgained Iowa 433 yards (296 pass, 137 rush) to 250 yards (97 pass, 153 rush), but the Huskers' four turnovers were killers. Iowa had one turnover in the game. C.J. Beathard was 9-of-16 for 97 yards with 1 TD pass in the win. Jordan Canzeri had 17 carries for 140 yards and 2 TDs and tight end George Kittle had two catches for 35 yards to lead Iowa to the win. For Nebraska, Tommy Armstrong was 25-of-45 for 296 yards with 4 INTs and added nine carries for 46 yards. Imani Cross was the leading rusher with 19 carries for 55 yards and 2 TDs, while Terrell Newby added nine carries for 34 yards. Tight end Cethan Carter was the top receiving target with four catches for 76 yards. Also contributing in the receiving department were Brandon Reilly (3 rec, 50 yards), Stanley Morgan (3 rec, 44 yards) and Jordan Westerkamp (2 rec, 41 yards).
