The world of college wrestling was rocked Monday when two-time heavyweight national champion Gable Steveson announced he’s coming back to college to use his last year of NCAA eligibility.
Steveson won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022 before retiring from NCAA and Olympic wrestling to peruse his dreams in WWE. However, after returning to freestyle this last spring during the US Open and Final X, Steveson had the itch to get back into college.
Steveson has to make sure that doesn’t interfere with his WWE schedule, but that isn’t expected to keep him from wrestling this season. He does not need to return to Minnesota for his final season.
