One of the reasons Osborne had so much success at NU was because the option offense that he ran was so hard to defend. Opposing defenses would not see that offense from any other team all season long and they would have one week to prepare for it and it was impossible for them to do it and to stop it. Frost would bring a combination of Oregon and Osborne's offense back to Lincoln and it would be explosive and high scoring. Frost gets it!!! Lincoln is a different place that requires a different philosophy! Osborne recruited the players that fit his offense and those players wouldn't necessarily be highly recruited from other top programs. Do you think that Crouch or Frazier would have ever had success playing QB at most other top programs?

I don't want another outsider coming to coach this team again. It's been a horrible cycle of Callahan, Pelini, then Riley. All outsiders that never really belonged!!! Let's bring smash mouth football back to Nebraska! Bring home Frost!!! He's been coached by and mentored by the best in the business (Osborne, Bill Walsh, Belichek, Parcells, Chip Kelly) and he has a very high football IQ!!! He's one coach that would stick around for a long time and not jump at the next opportunity he sees! It's his dream job!!! He bleeds red and truly loves this program!!!! Bring him home he would work his ass off to bring this program back to national prominence! Either we hire him this year or some other big name program is going to hire him!!!

Can an AD after week three and a coach after three seasons is not coducive to recruiting a top flight coach. Frost might be one of a handful of options.

and maybe a couple others...

I don't see Frost combining Oregon's offense with Osborne's. He would probably run Oregon's offense like he does at UCF. Some option concepts, alot of 4 WR Spread/RPO's. I have yet to see an I-Formation or any of the power sets the Osborne used from Frost at UCF.

He is not ready. Pretend he has the resume he has now, but played for and graduated from a different school. Fans would have a meltdown over hiring an unproven coach.

After being the OC at Oregon and shit-stomping Texas (30-7) and Florida State (59-20) in consecutive years, and taking them to the national title game, I beg to differ. I would be perfectly happy with giving Frost the reins to our program. I would be happy with he or Chip Kelly. Not sure Kelly would come, but either would make me as happy as a lark.

The nice thing is that we'll get another entire season to watch Frost perform at UCF to make the judgement.

If you can Riley before the season is out, you can consider that as bad as SP firing Solich, if not worse.
Here's how to take it, you gotta give him time to improve. You go the whole year, and he goes, say, 4-8. Then you legitimately look okay to fire him. Best case, you give him the whole year, they either turn it around, or just improve and get better as the year goes on, then you have something to build with this staff.

Hope they improve the rest of the year.

UCFs QB threw for 360 yds in their only game this year.

Agreed, it’s not time for Frost. We need a name and publicity (in a good way). Football and basketball— gonna take $$$

I'm glad to see something reasonable here tonight. I completely agree with you.

Why are larks so happy, anyway?

I will never forget Scott frosts speech at the orange bowl. In that moment I saw the leader of the future. A guy that has IT !!!!!! Have never forgotten that speech.

Isn't it inevitable at this point. Looking at our schedule the rest of the way I think it's almost surely a given unless some sort of miracle happens.
No it is not inevitable.
Riley will be retained if he wins enough, 9 wins essentially guarantees it.

I'm certain it's coming too but it seems a tad premature to speculate until we know who the new AD is. The hire will be his guy.

Tom was starting to spread it out a little before he retired himself.

Osborne was an unproven coach, never held the HC mantle before being named as such.
The college football landscape was quite a bit different in 1973. Only a handful of programs were relevant and had national appeal. That is no longer the case today.
