Frost never stood a chance with Trev

This. I hate the extension and the reasoning behind it, but at his age and that point in his career, Moos was never going to hire another coach. He must have decided to go all in on Frost. His one mistake: he trusted the guy.
I'm sure that a good chunk of the $15M is going back to Moos.

There's always that lol. IowaPoopyPants or some sh1t 😂
Another reason Frost never stood a chance is when Frost gave up play calling and mentioned how Trev said doing so would allow Scott to fish and hunt more. Scott implied trev wanted him to hunt and fish more. Now trev comes out and says he wants a coach who doesn’t have hobbies. Trev ultimately set frost up but made it seem like his decision.

Frosts inner circle is spreading some pretty damning stories on how Trev operates. Basically Trev has wanted Scott gone since last year and has been contacting people before Ireland about the job. he was set up to fail once Trev became AD to get his guy in. This doesn’t seem to be ending pretty.
So true. Frost was so close before Trev. Close as in close to getting a huge buyout, but still.

Scott’s losing had nothing to do with it?

Had UNL hired an actual AD with football experience Frost would have had a better chance. But they hired a guy known for destroying programs and now we are confused?
Any AD would have fired SF last year, why Alberts didn’t I thought was because of a lower buy out giving him a chance to succeed and obviously SF lost 2 games Nebraska should have won..

Frost has nobody to blame but himself..

Just a guess as to why on my part. Trev was new, he likely didn't inherit much from Moos in the way of notes proper evaluations, etc. The only thing he as to go on are wins and losses and the margin was seemingly narrowing so he had to give Frost that. Then he starts to hear from the assistants and others and he has no documentation of past concerns, this, for all purposes is brand new info. Then I assume there was a sit down to go over this and later his contract, with stipulations, was changed. In Short, Trev walked in with no real information aside from what we all could see. He had to address the concerns and develop a plan of action for Frost to follow.

That would be how it could have played out and likely did from admin experience. This is MHO.

There are now rumors that someone on staff or administration was leaking game plans to NW, North Dakota, and Georgia southern to expedite Frost being fired. Also rumors that frost was forced to attend pre practice meetings that were essentially pointless so he would be late to practice.

That could be the dumbest rumor yet.

OP forgot to mention that Frost was also forced to give away his Senior, All-American quarterback. Yeah, he was totally set up and screwed.

There were rumors (ok, the players confirmed by literally telling the story) that the offensive linemen from the 90's would mock the other team by telling them what play they were going to run before they snapped the ball. Then they would go run that play and still easily beat them. Those were the good old days.

Frost should’ve been gone so much sooner, but Trev gave him a long leash and a fresh opportunity…….and Scott buried himself, again. Trev will never be questioned for how many chances he gave Frost. Or at least shouldn’t be questioned.

Gee Wiz? Frost's cronies are saying bad things about the guy who fired their buddy.

I agree that he wanted him gone from the get go, but he did this in a manner that left no doubt that that Frost should be gone. Had he done it after last season, then everyone would have been talking about the "progress" we made last year.

The way this was handled is making the best of a bad situation. We have a team with very few seniors and the portal is available now. The next coach will be better off in 2023 than he would have been in 2022.

Another thing, next year we play 3 powder puffs to start the season with a normal schedule without a stupid Week 0 game in freaking Ireland. Maybe by that time we'll have an average defense. Maybe with 9 returning starters on defense, 8 on offense, both kickers, we can teach them how to play some football.

My vote is that we target a coach that currently has a good team who can bring 3 good OLs and 3 good DLs with him.

Yes we did, but we had that stupid Ireland and Week Zero thing that a new coach would of had to deal with. But that was only one of the points.

The main issue is that if Frost was fired after last season, there would be bitching to high heaven about how he was on the brink of greatness and we didn't give him enough time. A new coach with the screwed up players left by Frost in 2022 would be on the hot seat now for "screwing up what Frost had built".

Now, we don't have that issue and very little of the fan base is upset with Frost being gone. Also, a new coach will have a lot more rope from the fan base than if he came in after last season, as it's clear to almost anyone how messed up most of our players are.

For God's sake, we have a team with 27 four star and up players and most of the rest high 3 star players, and we're not even as good as Miami of Ohio or Troy State.
