Here are some quick football related nuggets following Nebraska's full-pads practice on Friday morning...

***Mike Riley said that while the initial diagnosis on Jerald Foster's knee injury had him missing about four weeks, but it turns out the sophomore starting left guard will undergo season-ending knee surgery for a torn MCL. Riley said Foster should make a full recovery, but obviously this was a major loss for Nebraska.

***On top of that, Riley said senior offensive lineman Corey Whitaker - who would be Foster's top backup - will have his knee scoped and miss up to two weeks. While he should be ready to return to action soon, that puts him at risk of missing the season opener against Fresno State.

***That means there's a chance that redshirt freshman Jalin Barnett and true freshman Boe Wilson could be in line to be the top left guards for the opener, Riley said. Both players have impressed this offseason, and Riley said they were ready to play physically but still had work to do to catch up mentally.

***Riley also confirmed that quarterback AJ Bush was transferring from the program in search of a better opportunity for playing time. Riley said he didn't want Bush to leave but understands his thinking behind the decision.

***With Bush gone, Riley said true freshman Patrick O'Brien would be the No. 3 quarterback this season. O'Brien will travel for road games, but the hope is to make it through the season without having to play him and hold on to his redshirt status.

***Riley said they "could" move Dylan Utter from center back to guard, where he started last year, but he "loves" Utter at center and likely wouldn't do it.
