June 16th and the 23rd. Whose all planning on going? I'll make it to at least one. Hopefully we get 10k fans out there this year. Is there a list of recruits that have confirmed they are attending? Gbr

You are way off on that statement, CWS is awesome and college baseball is damn good
Agree to disagree. Maybe it's because I watch the MLB and watching college kids commit atrocious errors and games ending 3-1 without a single homer in 5 games is just boring to me. I miss the gorilla ball at Rosenblatt.

More pure game now, which it should be, talent is across more teams which is great for the sport. Can't compare to MLB so much different talent levels. NFL to college is a big delta but nowhere near college baseball and MLB,

Lol people still go to that? College baseball is awful and the cws is boring.

If there was ever a time where a "dislike" button is needed... :D

Small ball rules! Homers are exciting, but I'll take the art of moving runners around the base paths and all the strategy that goes along with that.

Small ball and errors and walks aren't fun to watch IMO. The CWS just isn't the same.

I hate gonzo ball. It's not fun when the bats are juiced up, the ball is juiced up. Baseball is not a game of homers. You have to have skills to play ball. Knowing how to hit, field and manage a team is what makes baseball beautiful. Homeruns are just the cherry on top. They most certainly are not the meal.

This is an overexaggeration. Plenty of small ball was played at rosenblatt. The whole "its better now cuz there is more strategy" argument is used by two kinds of people. 1. People who really want to still love the CWS and cant mourn the loss of the blatt because it might ruin it or 2. Snobs who take a holier than thou approach and try to seem like better baseball purists and fans.
Yeah there were some crazy scores sometimes at the blatt, but you can chalk some of that up to bad pitching and good hitting. Pitching at the college level has gotten increasingly better.
As i said before there were plenty of close, low scoring games. There were also some close high scoring games. I saw bunting, hit and run, stealing, pinch running etc at the blatt, too.
There was always a chance something big could happen at the blatt. Hitters who smacked one were rewarded, pitchers who left one hanging were punished. It never felt like a team was truly out of it until the end. Homers arent a cherry. They are a major part of the game.
You can say the baseball is better at TD, thats fine i wont argue with you though id say that isnt just about the ballpark its about the players and teams.
But no matter what, i know for a fact that the magic that came with the CWS died with Rosenblatt. It has never been the same, and anyone who thinks it is is lying to themselves or they were never there.
I used to hate missing the games on tv and went to as many as possible. Now....meh. More apathetic.

If it was only about the park then the type of baseball would be irrelevant.

I always enjoy going to the CWS when I am in town. Sure it's different but then again so am I. When I was 21, I was going to Rosenblatt with my stack of GA tickets I paid $35 bucks for that would get me into every session. I just had to stand in line before each session In my 40's, I don't have time to go to every session, I have enough money to buy reserved seats and would have no desire to stand in a freaking line in Omaha June heat.

The things that made it fun and unique, for me, at that time would no longer be fun. But the game is still very similar. The stories are still similar. We just like to remember it how it was, in our minds.

I tend to believe our 21 year old selves, living in 2017, without a recollection of what it was like before, would still find it fun and unique.

I prefered the 'Blatt to, by a freaking mile, but today's CWS still makes me happy. It'll do.

First time I went to TD for the CWS I didn't have tickets but decided to head down and see if I could find some for sale outside the stadium, but two of my kids were with me, so I didn't feel great about it. As we get right near the stadium some dude in a sweet Caddy who was already parked could see I was looking to park ( I was going opposite way he was pointing) and he rolled down his window and motioned towards me so I slowed down and he said, "Circle around, I'll wait here and hold this spot" Sweet. So I get a front row spot, but we struck out trying to find 3 tickets so we go across the street for some food. We no more than sit down and some guy who was seated next to us said "I ordered a large pizza I'm never going to be ale to finish, would you and your kids like some? I have enough for each of you to have two pieces"? Sweet. So now we've parked, struck out on 3 tickets, ate for free, but I wasn't done looking for a way in. We walk back to the stadium area and some very nice lady who had just come outside for some fresh air saw us and came up and asked if we were looking for tickets, I said yes. She said, "I can't give you our seats, but I can get you 3 necklace thingies (not sure exactly what she said they were, perhaps they were just weird tickets) and you can use them to get in, and just sit in the outfield (GA???) and I said sure. So she went back to her group, came back out with three necklace tickets, and we got in for free and sat in RF bleachers (if that's the wrong name, my bad) and had the best freaking time. So while I miss the 'Blatt, that first time experience was pretty special, and we still reflect back on it pretty often.

Oh for the days of a loaded bat and a trailing 10 mph wind in a Stadium sitting high atop a hill. That will produce lots of 10-9 games. Boring. Simple solution at TD Ameritrade would be to bring in the fences at the bull pens to follow the rest of the contour of the outfield fence. That would make down the line 320 vs 330. This would help balance out hitting into the South wind most of the time

I went to the CWS as a kid when I lived in South O. I went to Askarben and Peony Park. Things change and Omaha still has the CWS. The Blatt was not some beautiful shrine. It was a dump. And no, I love small ball and the art of moving runners around the bases.

Edit: I do believe you loved the Blatt. It had a lot memories for sure.

Im sure you do love small ball. Just pointing out that was at the blatt too, although its moreso at td. And im not saying the cws isnt good at TD, people obviously still enjoy it.
Blatt was magical, dump or no.

Yeah, just wanted to make sure that you knew that I was not disrespecting your memories. We all have our own opinions and yours isn't any less important. :)
