Trying to identify common names for various formations Nebraska used last year (and I assume will use in the future). Can anybody help me with a few of these? They are actually screen shots from the Big Plays video.
I've got quite a bit identified in this one, for instance. It's 12 personnel. I believe you would call it some form of Twins with two receivers on the right and two on the left, even if one is the H-back; Y-left. I've seen some terminology call this "tight" left because Cethan is only a few yards left of the LT. In this case the QB is under center. Is that called "Stacked" receivers at the top?
Also, I'm noticing the splits along the OL varies by play, which is a whole other question/thread in itself since I'm wondering what that tells the defense, if anything. I'm curious if our pass protection is better with wider splits or more narrow.
I'm sure after several of these I'll get the idea but would appreciate you guys' help getting me started. Still trying to develop my basic understandings of this game to become a more informed, intelligent Husker fan.
