I heard Grant Wistrum talk on the Carriker show about the Pit. It was in the basement of the East Stadium. The O-line and the D-line would go down there and just face off and wail on each other. Only the O-line coaches and D-line coaches were present to keep them from fighting. Carriker said he had heard about the Pit, but it was gone when he got to NU. Wistrum said it made everyone like animals when it came to game time.
