Update:
FINAL:
Nebraska 10
Minnesota 7
Huskers (29-15, 11-5 Big Ten) net a big Game 1 win on the road to open a three-game series against Minnesota (20-20, 6-10).
They took a 6-1 lead but saw that evaporate when Brett Sears (5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 5 K on 81 pitches) and Jalen Worthley surrendered five runs across the 5th and 6th innings. But Dylan Carey comes up with the biggest hit of the night – a go-ahead two-run HR in the top of the 7th to give Nebraska an 8-6 lead. Minnesota hit three solo HRs tonight, including one in the 7th inning to trim the Huskers' lead to 8-7, but Josh Caron gave Nebraska a pair of insurance runs with a one-out, two-run single in the 9th.
Carey was the player of the game, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored on a HR and two 1Bs (the other AB, he reached on an error and drove in a run).
Worthley (W, 3-0) gets the win by going 2 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K on 31 pitches while Casey Daiss (S, 5) picks up the two-inning save by allowing just one hit with 0 BB and 1 K on 28 pitches in a shutout performance.
Game 2 begins at 3pm CT tomorrow on B1G+ and Huskers Radio Network.
=================================
First pitch between Nebraska (28-15, 10-5 Big Ten) and Minnesota (20-19, 6-9) gets underway with a 5pm CT first pitch. Huskers are in a three-way tie for 3rd place in the Big Ten standings with 9 conference games left (plus non-con vs. South Dakota State) and face the 10th-place Gophers on the road tonight in Minneapolis.
So it's a great opportunity for Nebraska to make a move on the pole position in the B1G standings as Purdue (30-15, 11-4) faces T-3rd place Indiana (25-18, 10-5) at home this weekend and Illinois (26-15, 11-4) faces 7th-place Ohio State (22-20, 7-8) at home.
Game 1 at Minnesota:
Pitching matchup: RHP Brett Sears (7-0, 1.84 ERA) vs. RHP Will Semb (1-5, 8.13 ERA)
TV/Streaming: B1G+
