The 6th inning was the turning point today. Huskers pulled to within a 3-2 deficit after a sac fly that cleared the bases with two outs: Ben Columbus 2B, Case Sanderson BB, passed ball, Dylan Carey BB
But Rhett Stokes – who was 5-for-9 in his previous two games against Kansas State and Minnesota in Game 1 – got down 0-2 in the count and flew out to right field on the third pitch. He went 0-for-6 across Games 2 and 3.
Nebraska sent the minimum to the plate (9 batters) over the final three innings: Went down 1-2-3 in the 7th and 8th. Sanderson hits a leadoff 1B in the 9th, but the game ends on a strike 'em out, throw 'em out double play.
Huskers (30-16, 12-6 Big Ten) still take the series over the Gophers (21-21, 7-11) but can't complete the sweep.
