Anyone know what the Chuck Filiaga situation is? Schaefers' newest free article indicates Riley is going out with D. Williams after Thomas Graham and Jaylon Redd instead of going to see Hafiz or Filiaga.

Which is indeed a little bit of a gamble, we are arguably more "stacked" in the secondary than at OT, but maybe Riley feels pretty good about the group coming in and maybe a walk on addition. Or maybe Filiaga is close to N.

I really have no idea where we are with Filiaga.

He has been getting acclimated to his move to Texas and kept recruiting on the back burner. I see UT is on the verge of offering. I figured he was prob headed there or back to a Cali school.

Coaches Cav and Langsdorf visiting him today per Huskers Twitter. At least it showed they were headed to Aledo, TX.

I think the staff believes either him or FS is in the bag.

Filiaga is an early enrollee. His team is still playing, they play Friday in the state semi finals. He hasn't visited Nebraska, so his last chance to visit is this weekend before the dead period kicks in. I suppose he could come up after the game Friday, but if Aledo wins, having a kid travel the weekend before and leading up to the state title game is not realistic in my opinion. I think Langsdorf and Cavanaugh will do their best, but, without ever seeing the campus, don't think Nebraska will be a factor.

Edit- sorry I misspoke. He is announcing at Army All American game not an early enrollee. Regardless this is the last week to take a visit before the game.

I believe they are holding out hope for FS but I don't think anyone believes either player is in the bag.

Just the way these guys recruit they are always on multiple guys at each position except OT, that just smells like the staff knows they have one of these guys already.

We can hope. But from what I have read, I am not sure either of those dudes have Nebraska in top 2.

Don't know anything about filiaga as mentioned but I had heard it mentioned FS is not happening.

Not sure if Patrick Arnold can play OT but I wonder if he garners a late offer if both of those guys go elsewhere

Patrick Arnold is an interior guy. He was told that tackle was a priority and that was why he was not receiving an offer. The kid that played tackle for Lincoln East seems more in line for an offer.

Yep. Arnold is at best 6'2. Way too short to play tackle.

Gotcha. Thanks

The staff must think they have a better chance at the 2 they are going to see than the ones they aren't. In the case of Hafiz, they must feel that based on Williams relationship with Graham that they have a really good chance of getting him.

I've been pounding the drum on this guy for a while now, and I am hearing he is visiting this weekend. He is a YUUUGE must-get prospect. He's already 6'6" 330 pounds and his frame does not look sloppy at all.

Que the ...too bad it's not 70 degrees group n mid december to trick the Hawaiian kid into thinking it doesnt get cold here in winter!!
If Warren Buffet would just donate a couple billion, they could put really big heaters all around downtown/campus and turn them on when we have recruits come in winter.

Nice to get him on campus but no shot here. I'm more excited about graham and redd. Redd has unbelievable speed that we could use in the return game.

There is a guy who posts on RSS that teaches at Foster Sarrell's high school and said a couple weeks ago that although he doesn't know where Sarrell is going, he thinks that NU is in his top 2.

He's been coached by Cav since he was little in camps. FS has a very close relationship with Coach C. So you people who say you have "heard" this and have "heard" that. Unless it is a reliable source it's all irrelivant. Nebraska has a chance, but not "In the bag" either

I've heard it's Washington/Nebraska.

Nobody would say he is in the bag but we are in the process. I will take my chances

C3ntral08 what was your last positive post ever, seriously your work is dark
I've kind of been wondering as well...

I don't get the sense that c3ntral is anti huskers in any way... but I do see an awful lot of posts from him that's says we'll never get so and so.

He may be right, but it would be nice to see more positives and less it'll never happen...

Lol you guys must not have seen all of my post then. He's not coming, no worries. Great job by the staff to get him on campus but that's it. Yeah Anti-husker for sure.. next time read all my post before making ignorant comments.

Reread mine as well lol. I specifically said you aren't anti husker, just a lot of "it'll never happen."

I don't know if you have inside info on all of these guys, or if you just don't see any of them coming to Nebraska because we aren't OSU or Bama or Other big name program... if it is the latter then I don't see how you can be so sure, that's all.

It's all good. No inside info I just don't see us landing him since his OV is after the season and in December. The gameday atmosphere is the biggest sell we have and he's not going to see that and it's going to be freezing all weekend. Who knows, maybe he loves it here and eventually is N; I'll eat crow if so and jump for joy at the same time but I'm not getting my hopes up. I think Sarell will be N and CF would just be icing on the cake.

LOLOL - You should tell the coaches that there is no shot here, so they don't waste their time.

I think you are looking at this through the eyes of a fan. Sure your game day atmosphere is a selling point but its not like every other school doesn't have that card in their hand also (it matters way more when you are competeting for a kid say with a Purdue that can't boast that but not so much with national kids). At this point most big time recruits get that and what becomes more important is the relationship with the coaches, other players and even other recruits. In addition kids (and parents) are looking to get questions answered on things like depth chart, academic support, social life, etc. There are a good number of coaches that encourage kids to visit after the (regular) season because it allows them more time with the recruit and allows the recruit to get to know the program and people on a more intimate level. This is not me saying it is for sure better than coming for a big game but its not worse either...its just different. Now with that said I don't think NU is landing this kid but its not because he didn't come for a game.

This will be his 5th and last official visit. I would guess he doesn't have his final choice determined yet. So, we may still be in the running for him (i.e. chance to make a favorable impression and be his choice).
