I doubt it would be announced this weekend IF he or any other coach involved in conference championships were the guy. What does or doesn't get announced Saturday, Sunday or Monday will be interesting.
I feel pretty confident it will be Rhule, Fickel, or Kleiman. And I would feel good about any of them.
Rhule, Fickel, or Kleiman I would be okay with any of those 3.
Luke Fickle would be better than Mike Reilly, but he's no Tom Osbourne.

Nobody would be and nobody should expect that. He was a legend and there are few of those. Right now we just need to get back to winning more than losing and then worry about the next step after that.

Honestly I don't understand the hate toward Fickell. Fickell has one of the best winning percentages as a permanent head coach of anybody.

Personally I think Ryan Day would be a fool to give up his lucrative Ohio State gig and go to the NFL. How many very successful college head coaches have flamed out going to the NFL. It's two different worlds.
If anyone has been paying any attention at all to what has been going on around Lincoln and Omaha they would be pretty confident right now that Matt Rhule will soon be announced and the transfer portal will be full of Nebraska players as well as players wanting to come to Nebraska. Happy Thanksgiving.

I live in Lincoln, at least that's the right town. I've got some insider access. Not much, but privileged to know someone who is.
Here is what I am hearing: nothing of substance, nothing consistent. There are people with preferences but nothing else.
If Trev has shown a great ability, it's keeping things from getting out.
That would be the concern with him. As soon as Ohio State opened up he would be gone.
Except two things: First, a successful coach like Day leaving Ohio State for the NFL would be foolish. He's not going to get a better gig in the NFL and be as successful. How many successful college coaches does it take to flame out in the NFL for coaches to get that message? Second, IF Ohio State really wanted Fickell after he's been at Nebraska, that would mean Fickell has done extremely well at Nebraska or they wouldn't be interested. And I'd take that success after all these years of disappointment.
I’d be fine with having another coaching search in 2-3 years because our current coach propped us back up to respectable.
