Coach Cav needs to lose a lot of weight. I don't mention it to be mean or sit in judgement. I mention it because he seems like a great guy who loves being at Nebraska and I worry about him running around in the heat with all that weight. He was big when he got here, but looks like he put on 50-75 since.

Nothing good comes from carrying around a gut like that. Hope alls well with him.

First of all, thanks Jeans15 for your Fall practice updates.

Second, those 1-handed catches are really cool. My opinion is you MASTER the fundamentals and prove that mastery in games before going "trick-shot" just to be cool. Disgusting NBA mentality of today's youth: "fundementals aren't cool." Should be taught: Practice how you play, fundementally sound & fast.

Spending time with the wife today..will have more updates in the morning.

Sounds like Freshman LB Greg Simmons was taken away by an ambulance after a collision. He have the thumbs up and has feeling in his legs. Riley made it seem like it was precautionary, but still very scary. Hope the kid is ok.

Notes, Quotes, VIDEOS

- Nick Gregath, @NickESPN1480

Bando Blitzed multiple times today, hit 22 as Tommy was handing the ball off to him.If he stays healthy Josh will have a big year.

Early in the scrimmage Tommy was struggling to complete throws down field but had a nice TD run on an option for a 30 yard TD.

Ryker was hurrying his throws a lot today, didn't get any help from his skill position players tho. A lot of drops.

- Adam Krueger @AdamKruegerTV
Riley says Westerkamp has groin injury and Cethan Carter recently suffered a concussion

- Jon Nyatawa @JonNyatawa
Also out: Weber & Carter (concussion protocol), K Davis (knee), C Jackson (hamstring), Westy (groin) & Rose-Ivey (knee). All to return soon

NU's No. 1 O 1st drive crackled at the start until NU D dialed up a blitz for a draw play. Banderas stuffed Newby for a loss.

Best play of the day was an Armstrong keep around left end. Well designed and executed. Tommy jogged in from 25. Would have scored from 50.

Best catch belonged to Stanley Morgan. Best throw was either a Tanner Lee deep out (smoked it) or a bootleg comeback throw from Tommy.

Riley on the Tommy throw: "That's clockwork stuff. Beautiful."

I love coach Keith Williams and our WR's will become great route runners (if they're not already), but man it sure seems like we have a lot of drops.

Surely we'll improve the drops from last year and I know it's only one practice, but this is a big concern of mine. Unfortunately there was a reason why we didn't throw to Cethan Carter a lot last year and I hope that reason is corrected (by CC) this year.

I thought our drops were WAY down last year from the previous few seasons.

I think our porous defense had much more to do with the Miami outcome than some dropped passes. To be honest, I think the fact that they were so bad early actually worked to Nebraska's advantage because Miami grew complacent and let Nebraska back in it.

While many quote the several last minute losses, the Miami one was not one where I felt Nebraska should have won, even if they had played 10 times, I think Nebraska maybe would have won 1 or 2 of those games (where they were at the time.)

Michigan State could have easily gone the other way from a win to a loss if the Sparty safety intercepts a gimmie from Tommy and if the penalty for stepping out of bounds isn't picked up.

Illinois and BYU were the two that should have gone the other way almost certainly.

Anyway - sorry for the turn of post intent.

Sometimes drops happen. It is football. And more important, it is college football - they even drop 'em in the pros. They just happen.
