Happy Friday everyone. Hope you had a good week. Now let's read about huskers. GBR!
Notes and quotes,
- BTN.com picks the best Big Ten football player from every state, and Nebraska leads the way with 11 selection
- York, "Collins Enjoyed Listening to a Player He'd Seen in an Orange Bowl Picture
Collins pointed out how he and teammates also heard two former Huskers address the team Wednesday night in the football auditorium. Husker All-America defensive tackle Terry Connealy and former Nebraska All-Big 12 linebacker Jay Foreman provided a double dose of motivation. “I liked hearing those guys speak,” Collins said. “They won a lot of games here.”
Connealy helped lead Tom Osborne’s first national championship team in 1994. He was a driving force behind a team that optimized every inch of its potential before beating Miami for the national title. “I always wondered who that guy was in the picture kneeling on his knee over the Miami player and pointing up,” Collins said. “It meant a lot to meet and hear him.”
Foreman played on three Nebraska national championship teams in 1994-95-97 before spending nine years in the NFL. “I liked what he had to say, too,” Collins said. “You learn about the history.”
- Fullback Janovich asserting himself well
